2. Where does the English tea
tradition come from?
Once upon a time a portuguese
princess named Catherine of
Bragnaza married with an English
prince Charles II. She moved to
England and she discovered that
they haven’t got tea. Then she
made the English brought her tea
from China. The English people in
the upper classes loved tea and
so they get used to drink it.
3. Where does the tea come from?
• The tea arrived to England in 1660
aproximately and came from China by
ship.
• The chinese added hot water to tea. But
English people introduce the tradition to
mix it with milk.
4. The beginnings of tea.
• In the beginning was an upper-class drink, but it wasn't
until 1884 that it became cheap enough for all classes to
afford it.
• At first tea was served after dinner. Then, was part of the
breakfast and in the 1800 the ritual of drinking tea in the
afternoon was created to fill the gap between lunch and
dinner.
5. Nowadays
• It became the infusion of every class in
Great Britain in the course of the 18th
century and has remained so.
6. HOW IS ENGLISH TEA SERVE?
In Britain tea is usually black tea served
with milk and occasionally one or
two teaspoons of sugar, usually in
a mug.
7. Tea bowls
• The English didn’t have anything to serve
tea so they import the chinese tea bowls.
• Lately European manufacturers created
the mug with a handle
8. English tea bowls
English
Manufacturers
started selling tea
bowls and tea pots
separetly. But
eventualy they
selled whole tea
sets that includes:
cups, sources, tea
pot and the jug and
bowl for the milk
and sugar.
