1. Honey
Sweet viscous fluid is made by bees from the
nectar of flowers. This is natural sweetener.
The base of honey and its sweetness is made
from glucose and fructose.
Million years ago people used to eat
everything they had hunted, captured and
found. When people discovered wild bees,
they thought, that becoming friends with
these creatures would be very useful.
3. Types of honey
Taste, colour and smell of honey
is different depending on flowers,
from which is collected nectar.
There are different types of
honey. The nectar of some plants
can be toxic to people, although it
is untoxic to bees.
4. Acacia honey– the brightest, almost white
honey with a slight tinge of green creamy.
Stone honey- wild bees’ “gift”, which is found
in the caves.
Raspberry honey– a pale yellow honey with
green tinge or even transparent like water,
which crystallizes – white with cream shade.
5. Melilotus honey– while fresh it is
white to pale yellow, when crystallizes it is
white like salted fat.
Clover honey– pale yellow, almost
white honey with pleasant taste.
Sainfoin honey– white, sometimes
with a green tinge, refined and bright
honey. It has got pleasant taste.
6. Bluebell honey– its pale
yellow colour reminds
homemade butter. It is equal
to the honey of July, it has
pleasant taste.
Bluckwheat honey – it is
distinguished by its colour
pallet from dark yellow to
brownish or reddish tinge to
dark brown or even black.
Coriander honey– it is
distinguished by dark colour,
specific characteristic aroma
and taste.
7. Dandelion honey– golden yellow or even
orange, very flavorful and thick honey.
Maple honey– there are two types of
it: liquid and white which crystallizes- after
one or two months it becomes somewhat
transparent red-yellow.
Field plants honey– its main color is
yellow, sometimes it may be dark brown.
8. History of honey
The first insects emerged on earth about 1000 million
years ago. Bees appeared about 35 million years ago. Bees
have got one feature. The more people or animal defend
themselves, the more bees attack them. That’s why if
people or animal want to take honey, they have to kill all
bees. The real bee-keeping started when people noticed
that bees are afraid of smoke. Smoke calms bees anger,
they avoid it.
