11. Ski Station
Is located 24 km south of Oslo Central Station
Is part of Follobane project.
The entire project from Oslo S will significantly go underground and is
estimated to cost 11.6 billion NOK (13 billion SEK).
Together with the existing path on the route this will cause a increase in
capasity on the line.
Following line designed for 250 km / h and can be the first stage in a
possible high-speed rail to Sweden and Europe.
Why is this project so demanding?
12. 2006 Multiconsult signed a contract with The Norwegian National Rail Administration
The contract states that Multiconsult actively use 3D modelling (Nobody talked
about BIM at this point.)
Most engineering disciplines designing in 2D CAD. 3D models are mainly used for
visualization and film.
2008 Multiconsult delivers services drawings but the mission is stopped. According
to the contract delivered paper drawings and 2 movies made in Virtual Map.

Looking back at the Project Ski railway station
13. 2009 The projects starts again. Meanwhile Multiconsult started an internal
development project called «4D In Multiconsult», based on a BIM mindset.
Ski station is now going to modelled in 3D. All disiplines starts to model with BIM in
mind.
Multiconsult chooses Navisworks as a collaboration tool. In the project this is used
for clashcontrols and multidisiplinary coordination.

16. The project has many temporary structures and temporary
tracks changes.
17. What was the status in 2009
Few technical disciplines working in 3D
Some technical disciplines had not software for 3D modeling
Few knew how to produce drawings from 3D models
No one could get out interdisciplinary sections from 3D model (2-3months
testing showed that Revit could do this but we had to wait a whole delivery
because we had to give priority to produce drawings on the old method.)
Few modeled in terms of phases and time system implementation.
Few modeled temporary structures and installation.
Hard to know the quality of the objects in the models.
Weak interdisciplinary coordination in model considering that technical
disciplines should work within the same area in the model.
20. Where are we now in 2012?
2D to 3D and 4D

working for a common working method (BIM / CAD manual)
working with time on their objects (4D)
All subjects have a conscious relationship to construction technical execution
projecting full temporary structures
using object-based modeling, information on all objects
relate to interdisciplinary coordination and control of a common interaction model
All geometry on the drawing comes from the 3D model
More professionals can work in one single database file
New methods have been incorporated into the all project deliverables and conducted by the
same people who have been responsible for the model and drawing production

drawings, and out on the construction site terrain.

transforms into 3D objects that can be taken back into the model
instead of laser scanning.
