Greece is the southernmost country in the Balkans and borders on the
north with the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria and Albania, on the east
with Turkey, either on the land border or on the Aegean border, to the
south with the Mediterranean Sea and the west with the Ionian Sea,
through which it connects Italy.
3. DATA AND INFORMATION ABOUT THE FLAG OF
GREECE:
The flag of Greece was adopted on December 21,
1978. The flag is composed of five blue and four
white stripes, alternately positioned. In the upper
left corner of the flag is a blue square with a white
cross in the centre.
Symbolism (meanings)
- The white cross that appears inside the upper
right square symbolizes the Greek Orthodox Church
(traditional religion of Greece).
- The nine stripes of the flag represent the nine
syllables of the expression "Freedom or death" in
Greek.
- The blue colour symbolizes the sea and the sky.

5. Avgolemono
Avgolemono is a very traditional
soup in Greece. Its ingredients
are the 'lemon-egg', broth, fish
or vegetable thickened with
eggs and rice.

6. Moussaka
The moussaka is a kind of lasagna (most of the
time without mass) that intercalates layers of
eggplant, ground lamb, tomatoes, onions, white
sauce and lots of olive oil! It is a dish served in
most Greek restaurants.
Baklava
Baklava is a typical dessert from
Greece. It's a kind of puff pastry
pie and walnuts. It is common to
be served with ice cream.

7. Dances
There are more than 4000 traditional dances
that come from all regions of Greece. The
traditional Greek dances are divided into several
categories whose classification is made in two
styles: traditional dances and popular dances.
The best known dances are: Tsamiko,
Kalamatianos, Karagouna, Epirou-Sirtos.
Music
Music is one of the hallmarks of the spirit of the
Greek people. The word “music” is of Greek
origin, related to the nine muses, goddesses that
in ancient times were evoked to inspire the
artists. The main Greek rhythms are: Rebetiko (it
is very well-known like Greek blues) and Laiko (it
is the name given to the Greek popular song) are
the most characteristic musical style of Greece

8. The Acropolis
High on top of a hill overlooking Athens stands
the proud remnants of four of the most well-
known ruins preserved from the ancient world.
The iconic Parthenon, Propylaia, Erechtheion
and the temple of Athena Nike make up the
Acropolis of ancient Athens.
Epidarus
Known for the masterful acoustics of the well-
preserved theater, Epidarus was a small city
blessed with a mild climate, fertile land and
several natural springs. Within the city stood
the Temple of Asclepius, a god famed for
having extraordinary powers of healing.
