Presenter: Angela Stanley.
Presented at the Georgia Libraries Conference in Columbus, GA on 10/05/2017.
Georgia HomePLACE (Providing Library and Archives
Collections Electronically) encourages public libraries and related institutions across the state to participate in The Digital Library of Georgia. The HomePLACE model shifts focus from funding repetitive projects at individual institutions, to a collaborative model which centralizes infrastructure and supports community projects at the local level.
Presenter discusses HomePLACE's challenges and successes over the last 15 years, and where the program is headed in the future.
2. Challenge
Include content in the Digital
Library of Georgia from a
greater diversity of institutions.
To broaden geographic, cultural,
and demographic coverage of
Georgia, the DLG needed to pull
from a wider variety of contributing
institutions, including public
libraries, museums, and historical
societies.
