2. Project Progress Report Template &
Guidelines
This document has been designed and developed by p3m global as part of its Project
Management framework.
This document contains two (2) parts:
1) The Project Progress Report Guidelines (this section)
Provided to assist in the development of the Project Progress Report Template. This
section should be retained for reference purposes until the template is complete. Prior
to submitting for sign-off, this page should be deleted.
2) The Project Progress Report Templates
Two templates have been included in this document. Either the Weekly Progress Report
or the Progress Report (Detailed) should be completed, depending on the size /
requirements of your project. The report template that is not used should be deleted.
Context
Monitoring project progress & providing status reports to key stakeholders is essential
for good communications and is a necessary control process within any project.
Objective
To document project progress and to provide stakeholders with a view on project
performance and on any issues that could affect the successful delivery of the project.
Application
The Project Progress Report is a key communication document that provides
performance information to the Project Team and the Project Sponsor. When completing
the Project Progress Report the following should be considered for inclusion for the
relevant reporting period:
• Schedule progress
• Deliverables achieved
• Budget status & forecasts
• Resource availability
• Issues & risks identified
• Change requests raised
Resources and Time
The Project Progress Report is produced on a frequency that is specified in the Project
Control section of the Project Management Plan. The Project Manager is the primary
resource for the production of this document.
Output
The output is a completed Project Progress Report.
