The document outlines plans for a photoshoot for an indie music magazine. It discusses shots for the front cover including a close-up or medium shot of the model to allow for text overlays. Double page spreads will feature a model in a relaxed sitting position on a white background. Props like flowers and long shots establishing the setting will also be included. Makeup will have a fairy-like, soft tone look and costumes will reflect simple, flowery designs. The photoshoot will take place in the photographer's living room due to the white walls and control over lighting and placement of props like balloons, flowers and vintage decorations that symbolize the indie genre.
3. Front Cover Page
I have decided that the main image in
the front cover will be either a close-up
or medium shot. This will make the
cover lines a lot easier to put on the
corners around of the image. The mast
head will be also easy to locate at the
back of the model’s face. Eye contact
is very important as it creates a
connection between the magazine
and audience.
4. Double Spread Page
I want to use a white background for my photo shoot
as I think this will provide more focus on the artist. This
background will also help the editing easier. I also think
that staying simple also gives a professional and
sophisticated look for the music magazine.
This is one of the main
poses I have found in
Indie magazines. I have
chosen to shot a sitting
position as I wanted to
portray a relax and
carefree atmosphere for
the artist that will be
feature on my double
spread page.
Long shots are also
very important as it
establish the setting
of the photo shoot.
In this shot, I will be
able to show the
props and location
that symbolize the
genre.
I will be using flowers as one of my main props and it is so
important that I think it should be consider as one of my
main shots. Almost every image of indie models have
flowers decorated on them. This emphasizes the genre of
the magazine as well as reflecting the artist’s music to the
audience.
5. Content Page
I will be adding album covers of artists/bands
on the content page of my magazine. I think
this is a good idea as it will make the page look
more categorized as well as creating a sense of
simplicity and minimalism.
I think that I should focus and take photos
on nature. This is because these type of
pictures express the indie genre very well.
This will emphasise and create a big
impact on the identity of the magazine to
its audience.
9. These are some ideas and
example of what my
artist/model will be wearing
for the photo shoot.
I’ve chosen clothes that have
simple designs and soft/warm
colours. I have included flowery
patterns, pastel and nude
colours reflecting on my
responses from my market
research.
11. I wanted to fill up the room with things that I think
that are associated and symbolizes the genre. My
props indicate an indie/bohemian/vintage setting.

13. I have decided to use my living room as
the location of my photo shoot. This is
because the wallpaper is white and is
perfect to take photos. Photo shooting
outside isn't also very wise as it is very
cold outside. This location also helps as I
can put more preparation and easier to
move things around. I don't also have to
worry about the weather and I have
more control.
