MeTL is a collaborative software program that allows
teachers to interact more fully with their students by:
• inking, typing and drawing
• setting quizzes
• facilitating group work
• developing mind maps, diagrams, formulae and
equations live with your class
• submitting and receiving anonymous feedback
• having a conversation with your students
• revisiting your conversations at any time.

3. METL
Other features:
• Feedback and quiz results can be shown in real-time or
later, which means the flow of lectures isn't disrupted.
• MeTL allows you to import PowerPoint slides or create
content directly in MeTL by using the virtual whiteboard.
• MeTL used at a basic level individually to create content
or its full collaborative functionality can be taken
advantage of to facilitate students' engagement with
and exploration of content, key concepts and principles.

4. RESPONDUS
Respondus LockDown Browser™ is a custom browser
that locks down the testing environment within
Blackboard 8.0 or higher.
When students use Respondus LockDown Browser they
are unable to:
• print
• copy
• go to another URL
• access other applications.
When an assessment is started, students are locked
into it until they submit it for grading.

5. RESPONDUS - FEATURES
• Assessments are displayed full-screen and cannot be minimized
• Assessments cannot be exited until submitted by users for grading
• Task switching or access to other applications is prevented
• Print, Print Screen and capturing functions are disabled
• Copying and pasting anything to and from an assessment is prohibited
• Screen capture, messaging, screen-sharing, virtual machine, and
network monitoring applications are blocked from running
• Right-click menu options and function keys are disabled
• Browser menu and toolbar options are disabled, except for
Back, Forward, Refresh and Stop Source code for the HTML page cannot
be viewed
• The browser automatically starts at the login page for the institution’s
LMS.
• URLs cannot be typed by the user
• External links don’t compromise the locked testing environment
• Pages from the assessment are not stored on the computer after existing
• Assessments that are set up for use with Respondus LockDown Browser
cannot be accessed with other browsers.

6. RESPONDUS - EFFECIVENESS
How effective is it?
• Known issues seem to centre on popups that
appear behind the locked window, so cannot be
seen or dealt with, and these result in the computer
freezing.
• Some reported issues require the lowering of
Internet security settings on the student’s PC.

StudyMate helps students "master the basics" of
