Pecan Pie
Film made in 2003 – is a short film
in which the main character drives
around the streets in bed while
singing a song in the style on Elvis
Presley. The short film also features
French comic duo Eric et Ramzy as
the gas station staff.
Pecan Pie was
involved as a bonus
clip in the DVD for
Eternal Sunshine of
the Spotless Mind.
October 25, 2014
episode of
Saturday Night
Live, Jim Carrey
performed “Pecan
Pie” during the
introductory
monologue
From watching Pecan Pie there is a
number of camera
angles/movements shown this
includes:
Hand held shot- Throughout the
whole film it seems as if a person is
holding the camera and capturing
Jim Carrey driving in his bed. This
gives a sense that it was an
unexpected moment and someone
just so happens to have it on footage.
Zoom- Quick sharp zooms are
frequent in the short film
Panning – This was used at the start
to expose the setting, time and to
reveal the characters car bed which
would be very unusual to witness
Sound and editing are also
another aspect in the film
Background noise- The
background noise is fuzzy
and distort.
Diegetic music: his car is
playing music that has a
slow tune which is over laid
with Jim Carrey singing out
of time.
