WHAT ARE ADVERBS?
An Adverb is a words that describes or modifies verbs,
adjectives, or other adverbs. Adverbs answer questions such as
“How?” “How Much?” “How often?” “Where?” “When? And
“Why?” There are different kinds of adverbs that express
different meanings.
The following are some of the most common ones:
Adverb of time; Adverb of place; Adverb of manner; Adverb of
degree; Adverb of frequency.
PA R T O F S P E E C H - A D V E R B S
Adverb of time (We use ‘When’?)
An adverb of time tells us when something happens or when something is
done. It can be used at the beginning or end of a sentence. When using it
at the beginning of a sentence, it is used as a form of emphasis.
Examples of Adverbs of time: now, then, yesterday, afterwards, always, last
month, already, soon, and immediately.
• Yesterday, he kicked his toe, and it bled.
• Will you come to my office immediately?

Camping Needs
Alex wants to go camping. Firstly, he must pack. Alex will need to pack things.
That will make a shelter, keep him warm, and provide energy.
A shelter will protect Alex from the weather. A good shelter provides shade in the Sun.
It is also a place to store things. A good shelter will keep Alex dry in the rain. Tents make good
shelters for camping.
A sleeping bag will keep Alex warm at night. Sleeping bags are soft and fluffy. They hold
warmth in the cold. A good sleeping bag will be warm and comfortable. A sleeping bag will help
Alex rest when camping.
Food and water provide energy. Without food and water, Alex will not be able to enjoy the
outdoors.
He will pack plenty of food and water. Alex will have the energy to play outside near camp.
With shelter, warmth, and energy Alex can enjoy the outdoors. Before he goes, he needs one
more thing: someone to go with him.
