5. • Wassily Kandinsky was the
first artist to express his
emotions through abstract
art.
• He was born in December
1866 in Moscow, Russia.
• As a child he loved music
and learned to play the
piano and the cello.

6. • He studied in Moscow
university and was a law
teacher.
• At the age of 30 we went to
Germany to study art.
• From 1914 to 1921 he returned
to Russia and married his wife
Nina.
• He moved back to Germany to
teach at an art school called
the Bauhaus.
• He left Germany in 1934
because of the Nazis and
moved to Paris where he lived
until his death in 1944.

7. • He was an artist with
synesthesia. A condition in the
brain where color and sound
are connected.
• Kandinsky could hear color as
music, and see color when
listening to music.
• Kandinsky was especially
interested in color. He used
color to show emotion rather
than to make objects look real.
• He wanted to use color to
make his viewers feel emotion,
too.
