1. Scenario of the educational situation within the project Erasmus+
‘Let’s trash the trash’’
ASSUMPTIONS
The educational situation is held in different age groups. The main idea of the situation is
to acknowledge the students with ecology issues in nowadays world and the excessive
waste of products as well as recycling. The tasks and workshops include knowledge and
skills from different school subjects (geography, biology, IT, art, English, Polish, maths).
Each group completes workshop tasks during 4 school days. On the first day there is an
initial situation and open task. During the next three days, students participate in workshops:
‘Eco-appeal, ‘Eco-eating’, ‘What do you know about ecology?’, ‘Earth's Future Starts Today’.
All the groups have the chance to participate in all the workshops taking turns.

IMPLEMENTATION
Task assignment
Initial situation- day 1
When students come to school they realize that there is something wrong going on as the
whole school is dumped with garbage bags and trash lying all over the floors and staircases.
The student get divided into groups and they receive different-coloured trash bags and have
to segregate the rubbish into the correct bags. Afterwards they have to take the segregated
garbage bags and take them to the gym to get cards with ecological information about
polluting the environment by people. Then students and teachers analyse them explaining
difficult words and expressions and discussing the problems.
Open task
The students are divided into groups and are to make an ecological banner promoting pro-
ecological behaviour. After they finish, all the groups go on a march around the village with
3. the banners, making a pro-ecological picket.
WORKSHOPS-during three days students participate in workshops taking turns so that
every group participates in each workshop.
1. Eco-appeal- The students are investigative journalists and they are tracking
ecologically incorrect behaviour of the inhabitants of the Dywity Commune. Their task is to
find inappropriate activities in Bukwałd (around the school), make documentation (photos,
videos) of the effects of anti-ecological activities found, and then create a video in which
they show in scenes how the problem arose. Then they have to appeal to the inhabitants
of Bukwałd to present their ideas on how to prevent environmental pollution. Their video is
posted on the school Facebook page. Students can use mobile phones and they find all
necessary equipment in the classroom. The division of roles in the group is up to the
students. They plan their work for 3 lesson hours.
2. Eco-eating- The workshop starts with introducing students to the subject of the classes
- solving the logogram with the slogan "FAST FOOD". Then they have a talk about the
history of fast food dishes, why they are not good for our health, what to replace them with
(ecology, not wasting food, veggie dishes). The next step is taking part in a survey,
reading its results and drawing conclusions. After that the students get to know the
Supercook application and prepare healthy fries (peeling and cutting vegetables,
seasoning, baking) and the chocolate mousse according to the recipe. In the end the
students taste the prepared meals, talk about healthy snacks and summarize the
workshop.
3. What do you know about ecology?- At the beginning of the workshop the students
get an introduction to ecology- what is it, is it important, etc. They construct a knowledge
quiz about ecology. Questions concern such topics as: renewable energy sources, waste
segregation, e-waste, environmental protection, recycling, landfills, clothing industry,
carbon footprint, water footprint. They prepare a wheel of fortune and a scoreboard. They
can also make a board game. Next, they conduct the quiz among other groups, make a
ranking and prepare a prize for the winners.
4. Earth's Future Starts Today- Students get acquainted with the topic and course of the
workshop, they choose a group leader. Then they do brainstorming - how to protect the
environment every day at school and at home? The students watch the movie "How to
take care of the environment? 10 ways to protect nature
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X31kMCrl_s0). Then they work in pairs and make a
collage using recycled materials. The next step is preparing a poster - designing a model
of the Earth in the middle - a collage of photos and drawings showing what they want to
protect on Earth, using recycled paper. Finally they prepare the ecological cleaning agent
and ecological dishwashing liquid according to the instructions.
On the second day of the workshops there was a lecture about the negative influence on
the environment caused by human activity. The lecture was conducted by a specialist
running the Birds Rehabilitation Centre. On the third day of the workshops the students
participated in an educational talk about the importance of bees in our natural environment.
It was conducted by a local beekeeper who showed students all the necessary beekeeping
equipment and ways of maintaining bees in proper conditions.
FINAL PART- presentation of the outcomes of all workshops displayed in front of the whole
school community in the gym. Evaluation and advice.
