Journeys have inspired poets and writers who
have flled millions of pages narrating travel sto-
ries, real or imagined: from that of the return of
Ulysses to Ithaca to that of Phileas Fogg who
according to Jules Verne went around the world in
80 days.
The English writer Bruce Chatwin ventured alone
to the extreme limit of Patagonia, the scions of the
English nobility who, in the late nineteenth and
early twentieth century, traveled to
Southern Europe and the Middle East to celebrate
the initiation rite of the “Grand Tour”.
It might therefore be reasonable to assume that the
passion for the journey has also inspired the name
Equipage of this small tailoring company, nestled
in the mountains of Parma, where Bishop Sigerico
on his way to Rome from Canterbury, to be crow-
ned Pope, traveled along the Via Francigena, not
far from where the company is now located
