Aim of next EA implementation First assessment was performed in 2011 by an independent international team with the participation of the experts from the company "Poyry" (Finland, France, Switzerland and Germany), the Ukrainian Center of Environmental and Water Projects, and the company "AESKAR" (Ukraine). CCSUP EA was carried out in accordance with the EBRD Environmental and Social Policy, environmental legislation of the European Union, in particular EU Directive 2001/42/EU, and took into account the best world practices. Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), Report on works scoping, Report on CCSUP EA and the corresponding Statement on the environmental consequences of CCSUP implementation were published and remain available on the official web-site of the State Enterprise "NNEGC "Energoatom" under the link: http://www.energoatom.kiev.ua/en/actvts/integrated_security_program The AIM of the next CCSUP Ecological Assessment is the reassessment of the impact on the environment during CCSUP implementation (with regard to modifications made in CCSUP in 2012 - 2015, its measures, completed during that period, as well as the actual changes in the environmental situation and its monitoring procedures, which took place since the completion of the previous CCSUP EA)

  6. 6. The next CCSUP Ecological assessment will be implemented according to requirements of the document SOU NAEK 004:2011 “Environmental Assessment of Power Units of Nuclear Power Plants. General Requirements to the Scope and Content of the Assessment Materials”, approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine (the document is published and available by the link http://energoatom.kiev.ua/files/file/sou_naek_004_2011_en_(1).pdf) taking into account changes in the legislation, which occur after first CCSUP EA.
  7. 7. Its planed, that scopes of the next CCSUP EA (analyzed aspects, elements of the environment, sources, types and factors of the impact, etc.) will correspond to scopes of the first CCSUP EA. A clear reference to the previous CCSUP EA Report results dated 31.01.2012, is admissible in the part, which does not require an adjustment, without its materials’ duplication. Assessment of impact on natural environment will cover following components:  climate and microclimate,  air environment;  geological environment;  aquatic environment;  soil and landscape;  flora, fauna, reserves. The next main types of impact will be analyzed during EA:  Radiation impact, results from: • Gaseous radioactive releases to the atmosphere; • Discharges to the surface reservoirs; • Solid radioactive wastes (SRW); • Liquid radioactive wastes (LRW).  Chemical impact at the atmosphere, water, or soil.  Non-radiation physical impact , in particular: • Thermal impact in connection with the normal operation of NPPs ; • Humidity increase due to the emission of water into the atmosphere; • Electromagnetic field (inside the NPP and in the vicinity of electric lines); • Acoustic impact (inside the NPP only). EA will include complex assessment of changes in the each NPP environmental impact under normal operation and changes in ecological risks (in case of accident on NPP) as a result of CCSUP implementation
