openings)
Evaluation Question 1
2. Cover
• In my magazine I have incorporated typical traits and features into it
that you would stereotypically see on not on a regional/fashion
magazine but on any magazine, For example, the masthead being at
the top of the page as predominantly placed on magazines. My
main image is in the centre of the page and I also have a number of
sell lines and cover lines which are various different colours or in a
bigger/bolder font than others in order to stand out more. I have
also included the website link onto my cover, placing it next to the
barcode as also seen on of my inspirational texts for my cover.

3. Background
I opted to go for a plain, white background for my
magazine pages as I feel like it would make my model
stand out and allow the reader to focus on the text and
the actual content of the magazine without it looking to
messy or distracting.
4. Title/Name of Magazine
• The title of my magazine ‘SEASON’ was chosen
as it has significance to the genre of fashion as
there are different seasons of clothing lines
and there are also different types of clothing
you wear for different seasons such as
summer, wearing shorts etc.
These magazine names automatically lets people know
what the magazine is about, resulting in them having an
insight of the content and what to expect as they all link
in and have significance to the genre of magazine.
5. Mis-en-scene
• I have tried to allow my model to look
fashionable and well dressed in my
magazine as it is obviously an important
factor because of the genre of fashion. I
found that the models in my inspirational
texts usually wore plain colours which
allowed them as a model to stand out
more, however the clothes still stood out
as readers would admire the models in the
magazine and look/praise their outfit etc. I
found that the costumes and props
mattered significantly a lot on the cover as
the costumes were plain in order to not
take the attention away from the main
focus of the actual magazine such as the
name ‘SEASON’. There are rarely props
used in fashion magazines which I have
researched so I didn’t use them in my
magazine cover.
6. Models/People
• The model in my magazine
gives an indication of the
target audience so it is
important that I got a
suitable person. Although I
could not get a famous or
legitimate model I tried to
incorporate various traits
and features to try and
make her look like one
which would allow the
readers to know that she is
a model and still have the
same significance as this
model.

7. Fonts and Style
These titles use typical fonts that you would see on a
Fashion magazine, especially my inspirational texts
which I have taken a similar font and same colour
which compliments it as the contrast between the
plain white background allows it to stand out on a
supplementary level. They all use capital letters
which emphasises the title and ensures people
would take notice of it more.
I have chosen a thick, black title which is easy to see
and read as it is clearly visible for the readers to
catch their eye on. Despite the fact that it is black
and bold, the title still includes the fashion element
the same as the others such as ELLE and VOGUE.
I experimented with various fonts and sized but knew
for definite that I wanted the colour in black as my
house style and colour scheme was going to be black
and white.
