3. Tasks – section 2 Task 1 Preview Objectives: To review a range of vocabulary needed to exchange personal and professional information. Online time: 15-20 minutes Task: You read and evaluate a teacher’s application form for a specific job and then you will fill in your own job application form. The activity asks you to think about the vocabulary you use to ask and answer questions about your personal details, education and qualifications and job experience.

Tasks – section 2 Task 2 Communication Skills 1 Objectives: To be able to identify important pieces of information from an interview with a teacher and to ask the kinds of questions typically used to elicit information in a job interview. Online time: c. 25-30 minutes Task: This is a listening task. There are 3 related activities in this task. Activity 1 asks you to listen to a conversation between a teachers and an interviewer and to identify key information points about the teacher. The second asks you to focus on the questions people ask at interviews and the third asks you to think of recommendations for teachers who are going to go to job interviews. This is related to what you have to post in Forum 1
5. Tasks – section 2 Task 3 Language Focus Objectives: To review and distinguish possessive forms, some of the verb forms we use to ask and answer questions about present and past activities and ways of describing your family and friends. Online Time: c. 20-25 minutes This task focuses on the language used to ask and answer questions about family and friends, including family relationships, what people look like and what people are like. In the first and second activities, you study a family tree and identify details regarding family relationships and facts about their lives. In the third activity you read a short article about someone’s best friend and identify details about what the friend looks like and what she is like.

Tasks – section 2 Task 4 Communication Skills 2 Objectives: To use the vocabulary, language and skills from the unit to read and understand the biography of a great teacher, and then to write a biography of a teacher you admire yourself. Online Time: c. 50-60 minutes This task asks you in to read the biography of Maria Montessori, identify key information about different aspects of her life and work and then write a similar biography of someone you admire . This task is related to this week’s written task.

9. Forums – section 3 Forum 1 A Job Interview This forum asks you to think of recommendations for teachers who are going to go to job interviews. Think on a successful job interview you had in the past. Think especially about the interviewer's questions and your answers during your interview. On the basis of your notes, write some short suggestions for teachers going to job interviews in the box below. Post your recommendations for this Forum.
10. Forums – section 3 Forum 2 Reflections on Unit 1 This forum asks you to reflect on the usefulness of the topics, language and activities of Unit 1. You may reflect on what you did, what you learned and/or the way you worked. .
11. Written Task for this week The teacher you admire the most In this task, you will have the opportunity to talk to about a teacher you admire. These may be famous educators or people who have taught you or teachers that you work with every day. Try to think about the outstanding qualities of admirable teachers. Some teachers we have had or met certainly have a strong influence on us. Tell us about the teacher that you admire the most. What qualities did that person have? What kind of impressions did he/she make on you? Write a 200-words article and send it to your tutor’s email.
