INTRODUCTION
-A Room Attendant (RA) must be thoroughly
familiar with a guest room.


-The reason why she is employed is because
she has to clean guest room in her shift.
-Guest Rooms represent the major revenue
generating source of hotel.




The sale of rooms contributes approximately
50% or more to the total revenue.
A room sale occurs when is leased for
occupation for 24 hours, at a predetermined
cost.


A room not sold on a particular day loses its
opportunity to earn revenue for that day.


It means:
 Comfort
 Security
 Privacy
 Convenience
 Cleanliness and Hygiene
 A “Home Away from Home”


A room which has
two single bed
separated by a
centre table


A room which
has single bed
facility.


Two rooms
which shares a
common door,
mostly used by
families


Two rooms
which share a
common wall,
mostly
preferred by
groups


A room which has
two single bed
but shares a
common head
board.


A room which is
been spread on
two floors
connected by an
internal staircase.


A room which is near
a water body or
beside swimming
pool.


A room with a
sofa-cum-bed
facility


A room which is
used for sitting
and cannot be
used for
sleeping


A room which
oversees a scenic
beauty e.g.
Garden,
Landscape or
water fall.


A room with
a kitchen
facility


A room
comprises of
two or more
bedroom, a
living room
and a dining
area.



French Duvet (down)
It consists of a soft flat bag
filled with down, feathers,
wool, silk or a synthetic
alternative and protected
with a removable cover,
analogous to a pillow and
pillow case. Duvets
originated in rural Europe
and were made from the
down feathers of the eider
duck, known for its
usefulness as a thermal
insulator.


Throw pillows serve both an
aesthetic and a
functional purpose.
Decorative pillows are
commonly used to tie in
color accents within a room,
often drawing on the colors
in drapes, walls or area rugs.
From a functional
perspective, throw pillows
may provide back, neck and
head support, although
many throw pillows are very
uncomfortable.


A standard sham is for a bed pillow and adds
decor and pillow design to the bed. There are
also Euro shams. They are square and square
sham pillows inserts are available for them as
well. These are not meant to be slept on at night
and are in addition to your regular sleep pillows.
They are just pillow candy. They dress the bed
when it is made up and adds an upscale design
look to your bed. I have both standard and Euro
shams on my bed as well as decorative pillows.
It's a great look.
The European Sham is the
pillow covering for a large
square pillow that typically
measures 26x26. This is the
first layer against the
headboard, then you arrange
your Standard/Queen
shams (20x26) or King size
shams (20x36). In front of that
you place your smaller accent
pillows.
 This layering effect with
different sizes and shapes and
patterns is how to design a
luxurious, inviting bedding
ensemble!



A mattress pad is designed to lie atop an
existing mattress. Made primarily from foam, its function
is to provide a layer of comfort and warmth between the
user and the mattress. It is of particular benefit when the
existing mattress is worn or uncomfortable. Toppers quite
often have a contoured profile to facilitate airflow. Viscoelastic foam toppers are regularly used in medical
institutions because of their pressure relieving properties.
The foam used in the construction of these memory
foam toppers reacts to both pressure and temperature.
This, combined with its greater density, are properties
that give them their characteristic "weightlessness"
sensation.


Boudoir
1777, "room where a lady
may retire to be alone,"
from Fr. boudoir (18c.),
lit. "pouting room," from
boudoir "to pout, sulk,"
which, like pout,
probably ultimately is
imitative of puffing.

Room Cleaning Procedures


-The room attendant already knows the
status of the rooms assigned to her on the
floor.


Bed making may
appear simple by
domestic standards,
but requires technical
expertise in a hotel
because of the sheer
volume of beds to be
made in a given shift.


Most of the room cleaning would have been
done in the morning and afternoon shift. The
exception would be the rooms with a “Donot-Disturb” sign. Such rooms are normally
occupied by late night/early morning arrivals,
especially crews. All occupied rooms,
however, require an evening turn-down
service to prepare the room for the night.
-will follow the procedure given below
1. knock and enter the room as per procedure
given before.
 2. Put all light switches on, to check that they
are working.
 3. Draw heavy curtains to give privacy to guests
at night.
 4. Hang loose guest clothes in the wardrobe.
 5. Take off bed cover, fold it neatly and store it n
the wardrobe in the top or lower shelf.




This is a service
provided at the
specific request of a
guest. This normally
happens when a guest
had a party or
meeting in the room
and would like the
room in order before
she retires.


When selecting maid carts, consideration is
given it by lightweight to ensure easy
mobility by the maid. Heavy carts also
crumple corridor carpets. The wheels of the
cart must be of sturdy construction and
should be oiled well be oiled well periodically
to ensure smooth movement.
