6. I will Ensure that public funds are used wisely Apply strategic, data-driven decision making Make local government responsive to citizens. Find creative solutions to persistent community challenges.
7. We need to form an alliance among the City of Mount Vernon, the Mount Vernon City School District, houses of worship and other institutions that is dedicated to helping young people avoid the behaviors and environmental factors that lead to gang activity. We need to provide young people with a social safety net.
8. I will support an increase of mixed use development throughout Mount Vernon. Our community is among only a few in Westchester that offers easy access to it resources by foot, train and public transportation.
9. People need to feel that Mount Vernon is a safe place to live and work, that there are great places to eat and excellent public spaces. That is the kind of community that I want to live in, and that’s what I will fight for on the City Council.
10. Join us on July 25 for a Family Day event that will highlight the accessibility of our four square miles by foot and by bike. It will be a day of activities that will bring people together in different ways via varying modes of transportation with plenty of food and entertainment along the way.
11. WHAT CAN I DO? Host a Parlor Party A Parlor Party is an opportunity for you to invite 8 - 10 of your friends and neighbors to your home for an informal gathering to meet Debra Stern and learn about her City Council Campaign.
