PERSONAL INTRODUCTION

Hello my friend.

My name is Ed Tong. I’m the owner of EdTongInc.com and
StrategicSponsoringNetwork.com.

If you are reading this, then you are one of the few who actually are searching
and learning how to succeed in Network Marketing. I can tell there are many
people out there who don’t bother to learn about this industry. Most will
ultimately fail and blame everyone under the sun, except themselves. So, be
proud of yourself to make an effort to improve your knowledge.

My philosophy is to first LEARN, then TEACH, and SUCCESS will come.

I was introduced to Network Marketing by my brother. Like many people, I very
skeptical of the industry. I was exposed to Network Marketing in the past, but
never felt comfortable…mainly because I witnessed a lot of HYPE.

After researching the industry and the company for a couple of years, I decided to
join my brother and start building my business.

       “I can tell you, if you truly understand this industry,
         you’ll know this is one of the best opportunities
           to build FREEDOM for you and your family.”
My journey in Network Marketing wasn’t easy…contrary to what most networkers
will have you believe. It takes hard work, and you will struggle…I can guarantee
that. But just like anything, if you put enough effort and time to learn and
understand it, then you will succeed.

In the beginning, I was taught the old-school ways of doing Network Marketing:

      Make a list.
      Chase your friends and family.
      Talk to anyone and everyone about your opportunity.
      Invite people to a party, and then pull out the flipchart.

Sounds familiar?

I’m sure it does. Most of us are taught these, because they say “this is how this
business works”.

Believe me, it takes hardcore determination to keep going with those methods,
and some of the things that are taught just aren’t that professional.

Now, I’m not saying old-school Network Marketing doesn’t work. It has worked
for many people and will work for others. It’s just NOT very efficient nor effective.

In my search for a better way, I scour the internet, and what I found literally BLEW
my mind and change the way I looked at this industry. Just like my jobs in
corporate, the leverage lies in technology. Combine that with effective Strategies
and Marketing and you will be UNSTOPPABLE!

I have spent thousands of dollars on training, books and materials to learn the
necessary skills to make it BIG today and in the future…with NO HYPE or BS…just
solid STRATEGIES.

If you’re reading this chances are you’re probably struggling in your Network
Marketing business, and are looking for a better and more effective way to work
your business.

It’s no secret that over 95% of networkers never find success.

Why does this happen?

Your uplines said, “anyone can do this business”, right?

Technically, that’s not a lie. Anyone can do this business, but, the fact is, not
everyone will make money.

One main reason is that most people just blindly follow system/process/tools
their uplines or company gives them, without understanding what they are, and
most of these resources teach old-school Network Marketing “tactics”.

These simplified tactics teach, “do this, do that, don’t do this, don’t do that”…
which is not very effective without solid “strategies” behind them.

If your uplines and company are not giving you sound “strategies” to succeed,
you will need to develop them.

Because most networkers are just using and following “tactics”, let me quickly
explain the difference between been tactical and strategic.

    Tactical – Work Harder
    Strategic – Work Smarter

Example:

    Tactical – Just talk to more people.
    Strategic – Understand what will drive people to want to join your
     business or buy your products, so you can effectively market to them.

Strategy teaches the “WHY” and “HOW”.

Success in Network Marketing boils down to how much value you add to yourself
and to others.

The value is not just telling people to “do things”.

The value you add is understanding “WHY” people want to do this business, join
your team, and buy your products or services.

Once you know the “WHY”, you are in a better position to market to them (the
“HOW”).

It took me some time to discover this concept, because they are not usually
taught. But once I understood, it changed the way I approach this industry.

The reason why most networkers don’t learn and teach strategies is because it
takes more effort.

Old-school methods automatically assume people are unsophisticated or not
smart enough to actually do what it REALLY takes to succeed in this industry.

So, uplines start feeding distributors watered-down systems and action plans.

Why?

They say, “If it’s hard, it can’t be easily duplicated”.

The problem with this mindset is that you will continuously sponsor and build
teams of distributors who are unprepared and lack the knowledge to make it,
which leads to high failure rates.

You’re probably thinking, “But Ed, I want an easy duplicable system, like the ones
out there”.

Well, over 95% of distributors fail in Network Marketing. Do you really want learn
and teach these systems?

Now, I’m not saying old-school techniques don’t work. In my opinion, they are
just not very effective nor efficient.

Consider this, in the business world over 95% of managers are “tactical
managers”. Less than 5% are “strategic managers”. Those “strategic managers”
are the visionaries of companies.

What is the percentage of leaders in Network Marketing? Is there a correlation?
You bet!

And Yes, I knew about the over 95% failure rate before I got into Network
Marketing. But, you see, I never considered myself being part of that group, and
you shouldn’t either.

Strive to add value to yourself and to others. Learn how to apply strategies to
your tactics.

STRATEGY 1: BRANDING “YOU” AS A LEADER
Before I dig into branding YOU, the leader, let’s first look at the psychology of
attraction. Some of these concepts are discussed in detail in Mike Dillard’s
“Magnetic Sponsoring”, who is regarded as the Father of Attraction Marketing
for Network Marketers.

Contrary to what people think, attraction is not a choice. It is deep within the
human emotion, and it has been with us since the beginning.

In the past, humans lived in groups or tribes to survive. These groups typically
have a chief, or leader, whose primary responsibility is to protect the people, and
in return the people would follow him.

They do this until they gain skills to survive on their own.

This survival instinct has always been with us, and to some extent we still live like
this. Employees follow the CEO, family members follow the head of the house.

In the past, people follow the leader with physical attributes.

Now, followers gravitate towards people who are popular, business leaders,
wealthy or authorities in certain areas.

Basically, people who are above the norm.

We are instinctively attracted or un-attracted to people based on the value they
have, because we gain some of that value through association. This is a very
powerful concept to understand.

Think about it, if you are lazy and a constant complainer, do you think you’ll
attract the right business people? Remember, they gain some of your attitudes
through association.

Do you think people want to be associated with you?

Absolutely NOT!

People are subconsciously attracted to people with leadership traits and higher
personal value.

You have to give people value, and the level of your value will determine the
people you attract.

                        “Leaders Attract Leaders”
Until you understand and learn to add value, you will struggle in business.

There are 3 types of people in business…Alphas, Pre-Alphas and Betas.

   1. Alphas – They are the Chiefs, the Leaders, the Tycoons and the Attracters.

   2. Pre-Alphas – They are the up-and-coming Alphas. They exhibit the qualities
      of an Alpha. They are starting to take responsibilities and lead others.

   3. Betas – They are the followers, usually with little confidence and not much
      to offer to others. These are the people who blame everyone and
      everything for their lack of success.

Think about companies. The Betas are the Staff. The Pre-Alphas are the
Managers, and the Alphas are the CEO’s.

The differences in wealth between Betas and Alphas are vast.

Which type are you?

If you are a Beta or Pre-Alpha, fortunately, we are not destined to be stuck there.

You have the power to choose to be an Alpha.

Which type you will ultimately be in will be determined by 2 things:

   1. Your State-Of-Mind (Belief).
   2. Your willingness to acquire the Knowledge and Skills to be an Alpha.

It’s not determined by your money, your current education, your status or others.

Only YOU can decide where you want to be.

Your State-Of-Mind or Belief needs to be strong and clear.

Your belief has to hold up to challenges and criticism by others.

You have to truly believe in what you are doing and the path you are taking.

But make sure what you are doing and the path you choose results in adding
value to yourself and to others.

The only way for you to offer value to others is to add value to yourself.

You cannot teach what you haven’t learned.

So, you need to be an avid student. Learn all you can about what you are
pursuing.

When a prospect is looking to join a Network Marketing company, they are
looking for someone who can guide, teach and mentor them to where they want
to go.

If you can’t offer that, they will go with someone who can.

Your goal is to become an Alpha.

You will have to work hard, you will have to struggle a bit, and you will have to
push your comfort zone, but you really have no choice.

 “There is no such thing as a Beta leader, only Alpha leaders.”
With that been said, every business need Betas.

Alphas are not born. They are created. You cannot become a teacher without
first being a student.

How fast you go from Beta to Alpha depends on you. You may take 6 months, 1
year, 5 years, even 10 years.

No matter how long, it is a goal worth achieving, because your whole life will
change, not just your business, and the world will be thankful for it.

Alphas are the ones who have the power to change the world.

Once you acquire Alpha status, you essentially have branded yourself.

Many people call this YOU INC.

You are now considered an authority, a leader, an expert and a trusted source.
People will have no choice but be attracted to you!

I believe the Network Marketing leaders of the future are not those who hold the
most home parties, hotel meetings or big events.

The new leaders will the Alphas who can develop systems by leveraging
Technology and the Internet, and master relationship building online by
providing valuable content.

STRATEGY 2: MASTER MARKETING
What is the main reason why most people never succeed in Network Marketing?

      “You see, most people who join a Network Marketing
         opportunity have never owned a business nor
                 have any business experience.”
So, they have no idea how to market and promote their business.

If you want people to join your Network Marketing business, don’t start
promoting your company, product, and opportunity on the front-end.

This is being “tactical”, and is not very effective.

You are not the only person promoting a miracle health product, with the best
management and the best payplan.

Think about it, over 95% of networkers fail in this industry. That means there are
millions of people doing the same thing.

What are they all doing?

They are all promoting their company, product and opportunity on the front-end.

There is really no value in that. Prospects can just go to the company website and
get the same information.

To a prospect, you are just another typical networker trying to push your
opportunity on them.

You need to find out the needs, wants and desires of your prospects first, and
then provide the solution in form of your opportunity, products or services.

This will differentiate you from typical networker.

      “Marketing is about meeting the needs and wants of
                          customers.”
So, to be effective in marketing you have to uncover the needs and wants of your
prospects.

Marketing is understanding human emotions and human psychology. Only by
knowing their inner mind can you know the fear, pain, need, desires and
fantasies of your prospects.

Here are some human psychology basics:

   1. Most people are lazy
   2. Everything we do, we do to gain pleasure or avoid pain.
   3. Research has shown that human will pay twice as much to avoid pain as
      get pleasure. So, uncovering pain is twice as effective.
   4. If you help people avoid loss, alleviate fear, solve problems and relief pain,
      then they have no choice but be attracted to you.
   5. People would learn how to do things, but most will never actually do it.
   6. People are attracted to people who have things they don’t have.
   7. People don’t like to be sold, but they love to BUY.
   8. Ultimately, people don't care about you, your product, your opportunity or
      anything else. When they do pay attention to those things, it's only to
      increase their chances of getting benefits, results, solutions, relief.

With the understanding human emotions and human psychology you will be able
to effectively market your business, products or services.

If you can do that, then you will be above 99% of the industry.

STRATEGY 3: KNOW YOUR TARGET MARKET
The first step in any recruiting process is understanding your Target Market.

Most networkers have a vague idea who they are looking for. If you ask them,
they’ll say, “everyone, right?”.

No, not really.

People usually call this a “shot gun” approach. It can work, but you’ll likely have
lots of collateral damage.

This is one of the biggest mistake new networkers make when they start a
Network Marketing business.

I don’t blame them, because most of us were taught the same thing…”try
everything you can to get everyone you know, and often times strangers,
interested or not, to a presentation”.

Not everyone wants to start a business, no matter how great you think it is, or
how much you think it will benefit them.

If you have done everything and put in the efforts and still have no success, then
it may not be your fault.

The fault is in the techniques and tricks that are taught by the old-school
networkers.

These networkers will point to many reasons why you failed…not working hard
enough, not having a big enough “Why”, not having enough products, not attend
enough meetings, etc, etc…

In most cases, people do honestly put in their best effort to build a successful
business, otherwise they wouldn’t have started in the first place.

But the truth is if you don’t have “thick-skin” determination, your chance of
success is very small when you follow old-school methods.

The sad part is that most of the people who quit never understand why they
failed, and chances are they blamed themselves.

I believe there is one simple reason why people fail in this industry…

    “Most people don’t succeed because they can’t sponsor
       or attract the right people into their business.”
Contrary to what the old-school Network Marketer will tell you, you don’t need to
pitch your opportunity to everyone you come across.

You are only looking for those who are looking. Trust me, not everyone wants to
start a Network Marketing business, or any business, for that matter.

         “This is a Network (People) Marketing business.”
So, knowing your market (people), and knowing who is RIGHT for this business,
should be one of your top priorities

So, one of your strategies is to understand your Target Market.

Who are they?

You only want those who are looking to change their lives and create freedom,
and willing to put the effort to succeed.

Attracting these types of people should be your primary focus.

Basically, you want those with an entrepreneur mindset.

So, how do you attract these people?

You need to get into their minds and know the reasons why they would ASK YOU
to join your business.

You have to get to the point where they are chasing you to join, not you chasing
them.

You have to step into their shoes, understand their problems, fears, needs,
desires, and fantasies.

If you can describe the situation your prospects are going through better than
they can, they will instantly think of you as an authority on the situation.

And if you can solve their problem, you are no long just a typical Network
Marketer pushing your opportunity on them.

You have elevated yourself as a solution provider…a CONSULTANT.

     “Salespeople chase people. People seek Consultants.”

STRATEGY 4: CREATE AN ONLINE PRESENCE
Network Marketing, just like any other business, is constantly evolving.

After about century, the industry is starting to mature and is gaining world-wide
credibility as a feasible business model.

I believe there will be more changes in the next 20 year than the past 100 years.

This is happening not only in Network Marketing, but in all industries.

The catalysts for the changes are Technology and the Internet.

Because of the Internet, information is widely available for free, which means
networkers are becoming more and more educated.

In order to attract and compete with these new breed of networkers, you will
have to increase your knowledge of the online world.

There has been an explosion of networkers online in recent years.

If you are not using the Internet to connect with people, you are at a huge
disadvantage.

At the time of this writing there are 2.1 billion internet users worldwide, 800
million active users on Facebook and 300 million active users on Twitter. You are
missing out on this massive audience if you are not online.

Consider this scenario:

You did a presentation to a prospect. He seems excited but wanted to think it
over. Usually, what that really means is…he will go online and do some research.
While online, he comes across another distributor who has already branded
himself online, and offers to teach all who joins him about having an online
presence, and since you have no knowledge of online, you’ll probably lose this
prospect.

Those who have an online presence are perceived to have a higher value than
those who don’t.

Of course, there are right ways and wrong ways when connecting with people
online….and most people do it wrong.

Just remember this rule:

       “Don’t pitch your opportunity, products or services
           unless that person gives you permission”
What do I mean by that?

Here is what most people do: they start bombarding others about how great
their company is, how much money they can make, how great their products are,
etc, etc… DON’T DO THIS!

You’ll be label a spammer, and it’s the quickest way to repel people.

Just like offline, you need to build the relationship first. This is especially
important online. Remember, people don’t know who is on the other side. They
need to first trust you before they listen to you.

The best way to build trust is by providing valuable content. Content that helps
solve their problems.

If, let say, someone opted-in on your blog or messaged you on Facebook about
what you do, then you can start promoting. But do it in a way that provides
solutions to their problems. The focus should be on them, not you.

Here is a good tip regarding social media, like Facebook.

Facebook is like a “coffee shop”. People go there to socialize, check out pictures,
see what their friends are up to, and just simply “hang out”. You wouldn’t go to
Starbucks and start pitching your business to everyone you see, right? Of course
not. Don’t do that on Facebook either. Build the relationship first.

   1. Blog (a MUST to brand YOU)
   2. Facebook Account and Page
   3. Twitter Account

STRATEGY 5: AUTOMATION
It is important to automate as much of your business as possible, especially those
tasks that you do routinely, such as training.

With automation, your leaders are able to focus more of their time on
motivation, relationship and business building.

There are 2 area of automation you need to develop if you want to SURVIVE the
future of Network Marketing:

   1. Marketing
   2. Training

You will need to develop an automated Marketing System that will generate
leads on autopilot. This system should also filter and sort your prospects, so
you’ll only attract the most qualify candidates.

At the very least, training such as company profile, products, compensation plan,
back office, and presentation, needs to be automated through online videos. If
you are in an area where internet connection is not good, then use DVD’s.

Most companies have training in their back office, but I recommend you create
your own. This adds a personal touch, which allows you to start building
relationship with your team.

People want to see the leaders they are working with.

If you have these 2 automated systems in place, you will have no trouble
attracting leaders from other companies.

Think about it, if a leader want to move 1,000 people to your team, do you think
he would like the idea of training these people all over again?

Big leaders want systems their teams can plug into and get results fast, which
allows them to build a bigger business.

TAKING ACTION
Now you know the STRATEGIES you will need to SURVIVE the future of Network
Marketing, your next step is to take action to implement (at least learn) these
CRUCIAL STRATEGIES.

Here are action items I recommend to get started:

   1. Get and study Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring. Mike Dillard is often
      regarded as the father of online Attraction Marketing. If you want to
      brand yourself and elevate yourself to Alpha status, then this is a must-
      have. Most of the big online Network Marketers attribute their success to
      Magnetic Sponsoring. The turning point of my Network Marketing
      business is a result of Mike’s teachings.

      Internet Network Marketing System. If you want to fast track your online
      presence, in my opinion, this is the best. There are literally 100’s of training
      videos, ranging from mindset, prospecting, blogging, marketing, internet
      marketing, lead generation (online and offline)…pretty much everything
      you need to build a successful business using Technology and the Internet,
      as well as offline methods. If I had signed up with them earlier, I would
      have saved so much time. You can try the system out for less than 10 USD.

Only 2 action items?

Well, yes. Don’t underestimate these 2 action items. These 2 resources have
literally transformed the Network Marketing industry in the last 5 years.

Your goal is not to learn everything out there. It is to deeply focus on those
teachings and resources that will help you build a solid foundation.

One of my mistakes was constantly looking for the next new thing. Spending
money and time trying to find that “magic bullet”. Trust me, there is no such
thing.

The worst thing you can do is jumping from product to product and system to
system. You’ll be wasting time and money, and you’ll likely be so overwhelmed
that you will give up.

Find resources that work, and master them. This is your best and fastest way for
success.

If you are reading this, then you are one of the few who actually are searching and learning how to succeed in Network Marketing. I can tell there are many people out there who don’t bother to learn about this industry. Most will ultimately fail and blame everyone under the sun, except themselves. So, be proud of yourself to make an effort to improve your knowledge. My philosophy is to first LEARN, then TEACH, and SUCCESS will come. I was introduced to Network Marketing by my brother. Like many people, I very skeptical of the industry. I was exposed to Network Marketing in the past, but never felt comfortable…mainly because I witnessed a lot of HYPE. After researching the industry and the company for a couple of years, I decided to join my brother and start building my business. “I can tell you, if you truly understand this industry, you’ll know this is one of the best opportunities to build FREEDOM for you and your family.” My journey in Network Marketing wasn’t easy…contrary to what most networkers will have you believe. It takes hard work, and you will struggle…I can guarantee that. But just like anything, if you put enough effort and time to learn and understand it, then you will succeed. In the beginning, I was taught the old-school ways of doing Network Marketing:  Make a list.  Chase your friends and family.  Talk to anyone and everyone about your opportunity.  Invite people to a party, and then pull out the flipchart. Believe me, it takes hardcore determination to keep going with those methods, and some of the things that are taught just aren’t that professional. Now, I’m not saying old-school Network Marketing doesn’t work. It has worked for many people and will work for others. It’s just NOT very efficient nor effective. In my search for a better way, I scour the internet, and what I found literally BLEW my mind and change the way I looked at this industry. Just like my jobs in corporate, the leverage lies in technology. Combine that with effective Strategies and Marketing and you will be UNSTOPPABLE! I have spent thousands of dollars on training, books and materials to learn the necessary skills to make it BIG today and in the future…with NO HYPE or BS…just solid STRATEGIES. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED 5 Crucial Strategies You Need To Survive Network Marketing In 2012 And Beyond If you’re reading this chances are you’re probably struggling in your Network Marketing business, and are looking for a better and more effective way to work your business. It’s no secret that over 95% of networkers never find success. Why does this happen? Your uplines said, “anyone can do this business”, right? Technically, that’s not a lie. Anyone can do this business, but, the fact is, not everyone will make money. One main reason is that most people just blindly follow system/process/tools their uplines or company gives them, without understanding what they are, and most of these resources teach old-school Network Marketing “tactics”. These simplified tactics teach, “do this, do that, don’t do this, don’t do that”… which is not very effective without solid “strategies” behind them. If your uplines and company are not giving you sound “strategies” to succeed, you will need to develop them. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED Example:  Tactical – Just talk to more people.  Strategic – Understand what will drive people to want to join your business or buy your products, so you can effectively market to them. Strategy teaches the “WHY” and “HOW”. Success in Network Marketing boils down to how much value you add to yourself and to others. The value is not just telling people to “do things”. The value you add is understanding “WHY” people want to do this business, join your team, and buy your products or services. Once you know the “WHY”, you are in a better position to market to them (the “HOW”). It took me some time to discover this concept, because they are not usually taught. But once I understood, it changed the way I approach this industry. The reason why most networkers don’t learn and teach strategies is because it takes more effort. Old-school methods automatically assume people are unsophisticated or not smart enough to actually do what it REALLY takes to succeed in this industry. So, uplines start feeding distributors watered-down systems and action plans. Why? They say, “If it’s hard, it can’t be easily duplicated”. The problem with this mindset is that you will continuously sponsor and build teams of distributors who are unprepared and lack the knowledge to make it, which leads to high failure rates. Do you really want learn and teach these systems? Now, I’m not saying old-school techniques don’t work. In my opinion, they are just not very effective nor efficient. Consider this, in the business world over 95% of managers are “tactical managers”. Less than 5% are “strategic managers”. Those “strategic managers” are the visionaries of companies. What is the percentage of leaders in Network Marketing? Is there a correlation? You bet! And Yes, I knew about the over 95% failure rate before I got into Network Marketing. But, you see, I never considered myself being part of that group, and you shouldn’t either. Strive to add value to yourself and to others. Learn how to apply strategies to your tactics.   • 8. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED STRATEGY 1: BRANDING “YOU” AS A LEADER Before I dig into branding YOU, the leader, let’s first look at the psychology of attraction. Some of these concepts are discussed in detail in Mike Dillard’s “Magnetic Sponsoring”, who is regarded as the Father of Attraction Marketing for Network Marketers. Contrary to what people think, attraction is not a choice. It is deep within the human emotion, and it has been with us since the beginning. In the past, humans lived in groups or tribes to survive. These groups typically have a chief, or leader, whose primary responsibility is to protect the people, and in return the people would follow him. They do this until they gain skills to survive on their own. This survival instinct has always been with us, and to some extent we still live like this. Employees follow the CEO, family members follow the head of the house. In the past, people follow the leader with physical attributes. Now, followers gravitate towards people who are popular, business leaders, wealthy or authorities in certain areas. Basically, people who are above the norm. We are instinctively attracted or un-attracted to people based on the value they have, because we gain some of that value through association. This is a very powerful concept to understand. Think about it, if you are lazy and a constant complainer, do you think you’ll attract the right business people? Remember, they gain some of your attitudes through association.   • 9. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED People are subconsciously attracted to people with leadership traits and higher personal value. You have to give people value, and the level of your value will determine the people you attract. “Leaders Attract Leaders” Until you understand and learn to add value, you will struggle in business. There are 3 types of people in business…Alphas, Pre-Alphas and Betas. 1. Alphas – They are the Chiefs, the Leaders, the Tycoons and the Attracters. 2. Pre-Alphas – They are the up-and-coming Alphas. They exhibit the qualities of an Alpha. They are starting to take responsibilities and lead others. 3. Betas – They are the followers, usually with little confidence and not much to offer to others. These are the people who blame everyone and everything for their lack of success. Think about companies. The Betas are the Staff. The Pre-Alphas are the Managers, and the Alphas are the CEO’s. The differences in wealth between Betas and Alphas are vast. Which type are you? If you are a Beta or Pre-Alpha, fortunately, we are not destined to be stuck there. You have the power to choose to be an Alpha. Which type you will ultimately be in will be determined by 2 things: 1. Your State-Of-Mind (Belief). 2. Your willingness to acquire the Knowledge and Skills to be an Alpha. It’s not determined by your money, your current education, your status or others. Only YOU can decide where you want to be.   • 10. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED Your State-Of-Mind or Belief needs to be strong and clear. Your belief has to hold up to challenges and criticism by others. You have to truly believe in what you are doing and the path you are taking. But make sure what you are doing and the path you choose results in adding value to yourself and to others. The only way for you to offer value to others is to add value to yourself. You cannot teach what you haven’t learned. So, you need to be an avid student. Learn all you can about what you are pursuing. When a prospect is looking to join a Network Marketing company, they are looking for someone who can guide, teach and mentor them to where they want to go. If you can’t offer that, they will go with someone who can. Your goal is to become an Alpha. You will have to work hard, you will have to struggle a bit, and you will have to push your comfort zone, but you really have no choice. “There is no such thing as a Beta leader, only Alpha leaders.” With that been said, every business need Betas. Alphas are not born. They are created. You cannot become a teacher without first being a student. How fast you go from Beta to Alpha depends on you. You may take 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, even 10 years. No matter how long, it is a goal worth achieving, because your whole life will change, not just your business, and the world will be thankful for it. Ed Tong | www.edtonginc.com Page 10
  • 11. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED Alphas are the ones who have the power to change the world. Once you acquire Alpha status, you essentially have branded yourself. Many people call this YOU INC. You are now considered an authority, a leader, an expert and a trusted source. People will have no choice but be attracted to you! I believe the Network Marketing leaders of the future are not those who hold the most home parties, hotel meetings or big events. The new leaders will the Alphas who can develop systems by leveraging Technology and the Internet, and master relationship building online by providing valuable content. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED STRATEGY 2: MASTER MARKETING What is the main reason why most people never succeed in Network Marketing? “You see, most people who join a Network Marketing opportunity have never owned a business nor have any business experience.” So, they have no idea how to market and promote their business. If you want people to join your Network Marketing business, don’t start promoting your company, product, and opportunity on the front-end. This is being “tactical”, and is not very effective. You are not the only person promoting a miracle health product, with the best management and the best payplan. Think about it, over 95% of networkers fail in this industry. That means there are millions of people doing the same thing. What are they all doing? They are all promoting their company, product and opportunity on the front-end. There is really no value in that. Prospects can just go to the company website and get the same information. To a prospect, you are just another typical networker trying to push your opportunity on them. You need to find out the needs, wants and desires of your prospects first, and then provide the solution in form of your opportunity, products or services.   • 13. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED “Marketing is about meeting the needs and wants of customers.” So, to be effective in marketing you have to uncover the needs and wants of your prospects. Marketing is understanding human emotions and human psychology. Only by knowing their inner mind can you know the fear, pain, need, desires and fantasies of your prospects. Here are some human psychology basics: 1. Most people are lazy 2. Everything we do, we do to gain pleasure or avoid pain. 3. Research has shown that human will pay twice as much to avoid pain as get pleasure. So, uncovering pain is twice as effective. 4. If you help people avoid loss, alleviate fear, solve problems and relief pain, then they have no choice but be attracted to you. 5. People would learn how to do things, but most will never actually do it. 6. People are attracted to people who have things they don’t have. 7. People don’t like to be sold, but they love to BUY. 8. Ultimately, people don't care about you, your product, your opportunity or anything else. When they do pay attention to those things, it's only to increase their chances of getting benefits, results, solutions, relief. With the understanding human emotions and human psychology you will be able to effectively market your business, products or services. If you can do that, then you will be above 99% of the industry.   • 14. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED STRATEGY 3: KNOW YOUR TARGET MARKET The first step in any recruiting process is understanding your Target Market. Most networkers have a vague idea who they are looking for. If you ask them, they’ll say, “everyone, right?”. No, not really. People usually call this a “shot gun” approach. It can work, but you’ll likely have lots of collateral damage. This is one of the biggest mistake new networkers make when they start a Network Marketing business. I don’t blame them, because most of us were taught the same thing…”try everything you can to get everyone you know, and often times strangers, interested or not, to a presentation”. Not everyone wants to start a business, no matter how great you think it is, or how much you think it will benefit them. If you have done everything and put in the efforts and still have no success, then it may not be your fault. The fault is in the techniques and tricks that are taught by the old-school networkers. These networkers will point to many reasons why you failed…not working hard enough, not having a big enough “Why”, not having enough products, not attend enough meetings, etc, etc… In most cases, people do honestly put in their best effort to build a successful business, otherwise they wouldn’t have started in the first place. I believe there is one simple reason why people fail in this industry… “Most people don’t succeed because they can’t sponsor or attract the right people into their business.” Contrary to what the old-school Network Marketer will tell you, you don’t need to pitch your opportunity to everyone you come across. You are only looking for those who are looking. Trust me, not everyone wants to start a Network Marketing business, or any business, for that matter. “This is a Network (People) Marketing business.” So, knowing your market (people), and knowing who is RIGHT for this business, should be one of your top priorities So, one of your strategies is to understand your Target Market. Who are they? You only want those who are looking to change their lives and create freedom, and willing to put the effort to succeed. Attracting these types of people should be your primary focus. Basically, you want those with an entrepreneur mindset. So, how do you attract these people? You need to get into their minds and know the reasons why they would ASK YOU to join your business. If you can describe the situation your prospects are going through better than they can, they will instantly think of you as an authority on the situation. And if you can solve their problem, you are no long just a typical Network Marketer pushing your opportunity on them.   • 17. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED STRATEGY 4: CREATE AN ONLINE PRESENCE Network Marketing, just like any other business, is constantly evolving. After about century, the industry is starting to mature and is gaining world-wide credibility as a feasible business model. I believe there will be more changes in the next 20 year than the past 100 years. This is happening not only in Network Marketing, but in all industries. The catalysts for the changes are Technology and the Internet. Because of the Internet, information is widely available for free, which means networkers are becoming more and more educated. In order to attract and compete with these new breed of networkers, you will have to increase your knowledge of the online world. There has been an explosion of networkers online in recent years. If you are not using the Internet to connect with people, you are at a huge disadvantage. At the time of this writing there are 2.1 billion internet users worldwide, 800 million active users on Facebook and 300 million active users on Twitter. You are missing out on this massive audience if you are not online. Consider this scenario: You did a presentation to a prospect. He seems excited but wanted to think it over. Usually, what that really means is…he will go online and do some research. While online, he comes across another distributor who has already branded himself online, and offers to teach all who joins him about having an online presence, and since you have no knowledge of online, you’ll probably lose this prospect.   • 18. LEARN | TEACH | SUCCEED Of course, there are right ways and wrong ways when connecting with people online….and most people do it wrong. Just remember this rule: “Don’t pitch your opportunity, products or services unless that person gives you permission” What do I mean by that? Here is what most people do: they start bombarding others about how great their company is, how much money they can make, how great their products are, etc, etc… DON’T DO THIS! You’ll be label a spammer, and it’s the quickest way to repel people. Just like offline, you need to build the relationship first. This is especially important online. Remember, people don’t know who is on the other side. They need to first trust you before they listen to you. The best way to build trust is by providing valuable content. Content that helps solve their problems. If, let say, someone opted-in on your blog or messaged you on Facebook about what you do, then you can start promoting. But do it in a way that provides solutions to their problems. The focus should be on them, not you. Here is a good tip regarding social media, like Facebook. Facebook is like a “coffee shop”. People go there to socialize, check out pictures, see what their friends are up to, and just simply “hang out”. You wouldn’t go to Starbucks and start pitching your business to everyone you see, right? Of course not. Don’t do that on Facebook either. Build the relationship first. With automation, your leaders are able to focus more of their time on motivation, relationship and business building. There are 2 area of automation you need to develop if you want to SURVIVE the future of Network Marketing: 1. Marketing 2. Training You will need to develop an automated Marketing System that will generate leads on autopilot. This system should also filter and sort your prospects, so you’ll only attract the most qualify candidates. At the very least, training such as company profile, products, compensation plan, back office, and presentation, needs to be automated through online videos. If you are in an area where internet connection is not good, then use DVD’s. Most companies have training in their back office, but I recommend you create your own. This adds a personal touch, which allows you to start building relationship with your team. People want to see the leaders they are working with. If you have these 2 automated systems in place, you will have no trouble attracting leaders from other companies. Think about it, if a leader want to move 1,000 people to your team, do you think he would like the idea of training these people all over again? If you want to fast track your online presence, in my opinion, this is the best. There are literally 100’s of training videos, ranging from mindset, prospecting, blogging, marketing, internet marketing, lead generation (online and offline)…pretty much everything you need to build a successful business using Technology and the Internet, as well as offline methods. If I had signed up with them earlier, I would have saved so much time. You can try the system out for less than 10 USD. Only 2 action items? Well, yes. Don’t underestimate these 2 action items. These 2 resources have literally transformed the Network Marketing industry in the last 5 years. Your goal is not to learn everything out there. It is to deeply focus on those teachings and resources that will help you build a solid foundation. One of my mistakes was constantly looking for the next new thing.
