Indian industry has traditionally viewed energy in isolation rather than considering it as part of the overall production process. A lack of standardized energy performance assessment and reporting protocols restricts data sharing and innovation. While industry associations have data on energy performance across sectors, little effort has been made to digitize and share this data through dynamic indicators and benchmarks that could help industries evaluate their performance against sector standards domestically and globally. Embracing data strategies and taking a systems approach that considers equipment within the larger context can help industries answer previously unquestioned aspects of energy productivity.
