  1. 1. 4 Hugh Vol. 43 May 8, 2018 Number 19 MOTHER Barry Kennedy This May 13 we celebrate Mother’s Day. It is a time of reflection for what a blessing and influence godly mothers have been to our lives. This Mother’s Day will be filled with those who have thought long and hard about what to do for their special lady, while others will scratch around at the last minute to find some little “something” to give her out of guilt. God’s Word tells us to give honor to whom honor is due (Romans 13:7). Thus, it is a good thing to spend some time showing our gratitude for Godly mothers, not just on Mother’s Day, but all year long as well. All that being said, who is this Mother that we are honoring? (The following adopted from “anonymous”). 1. Mother is the woman who taught us LOGIC when she asked, “If everyone else jumped off a cliff would you do it too?” 2. Mother is the woman who taught us MEDICINE when she said, “If you don’t stop crossing your eyes, they’re going to freeze that way.” 3. Mother is the woman who taught us HOW TO BECOME AN ADULT when she said, “If you don’t eat your vegetables, you’ll never grow up.” 4. Mother is the woman who taught us GENETICS, when she said, “You are just like your father!” 5. Mother is the woman who taught us ROOTS, when she asked, “DO you think you were born in a barn?” 6. Mother is the woman who taught us the WISDOM THAT COMES WITH AGE when she said, “When you get to be my age you’ll understand,” and “I’ll explain it all when you get older.” 7. Mother is the woman who taught us ANTICIPATION when she said, “Just wait till your father gets home!” 8. Finally, Mother is the woman who taught us JUSTICE when she said, “One day you will have kids, and I hope they turn out to be just like you. Then you’ll see what it’s like!” I’m sure some of these antidotes hit home with many of us and likely brought a smile to our faces. In all seriousness, godly mothers are truly a blessing from God, and should never go unappreciated. If you are a mother striving to serve the Father of spirits and rearing your descendants toward that Heavenly Home, keep up the good work and may God bless you. Those who may not have children but anticipate motherhood in the future, do all that you can to be the woman God wants you to be. Doing so, you will be the Mother He wants you to be and the Mother that your child deserves. Remember, Timothy’s foundation of faith was laid by his Mother Eunice and Grandmother Lois (2 Timothy 1:5).
