INDIANAPOLIS, IN, December 9, 2015 – As many girls struggle with retaining interest in STEM careers, a STEM Professor releases a second children’s book in a series to encourage girls to explore STEM careers. The Amazing Adventures of the Princesses from Planet STEM: Funbook: ALPHA creates opportunities to solve STEM problems with puzzles: http://tinyurl.com/STEMP2. “We still do not have enough resources for girls to get interested in STEM early,” according to author of the new children’s book series, associate professor of pharmacy practice at Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and health outcomes pharmacist at Myers and Stauffer, LC, Dr. Erin L. Albert. “We have an opportunity to help our girls choose their own adventures in STEM careers early through this series. If we can engage girls in the language of several STEM careers before middle school, the likelihood of girls pursuing STEM careers increases. Girls ages 5-9 must be introduced to STEM careers early and often—a girl can be what she can see,” Albert said. The first book in the series was released in 2014, and keeping the idea of a series of books to encourage girls to pursue STEM careers has been a passion of Albert’s. “I really just want to help girls realize that anything is possible, that they can become women who are financially stable, independent, and at parity for their work with men. If we can show them different options for a career sooner, we can create a legion of STEM superstars, which is good for women, and Indiana, because STEM careers begin to close pay gap for genders, and paying women at parity raises an entire community.” The second book in the series is available in print from the author’s site above. A Kindle version of the second book is available on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/STEMP2Kindle, and electronic versions are also available at the ePublisher’s site, eBookit: http://tinyurl.com/STEMP2ebook. A very limited number of copies of the first book in the series are available from the author at: http://tinyurl.com/STEMP1.
