Who Do You Consider a Great
      Leader? Why?
Basic Leadership Traits

•   Courteous and friendly… positive attitude
•   On time
•   Attendance
•   Work ethic (can-do attitude)
•   Communication (clear, concise, continuous)
•   Socialization… networking
       Face-to-face, social media, Facebook,
       LinkedIn, etc.
Life Traits
• Learn and develop yourself
     Invest in yourself/seek others to learn from
     Leaders continuously improve
• Be responsible for outcomes – good & bad
     Communicate “we” vs. “I”
• Foster collaboration and build trust
• Take risks (with caution)
     May not always succeed
     People learn from failing, rather than
     succeeding
Leadership Traits
• Lead by example (integrity)
     Do What You Say You’re Going To Do
• Have a Vision (and communicate it)
• Recognize others and show appreciation
     There is no “I” in team
• Develop others. Mentor others & share your
  skills
     Model the behavior of good leaders
• Inspire others (different from motivation)
Humility
• Laugh at yourself
• Admit mistakes
     “I was wrong.” “I apologize.”
• Use your heart vs. your head
