Giant-sized superhero properties are Hollywood's latest golden ticket – meaning, you have to do a
lot wrong to botch it all up; which ‘Green Lantern’ did last year. Sorry Ryan.
Modern superheroes are this gen’s action heroes, with the superhero movie as the tent-pole
release of the summer for quite a while now, for a number of reasons.
Most of the action heroes (Stallone, Willis) are all old and broken down now, and without suitable
replacements. Experts
The over-the-top nature of the superhero medium also ensures their status as the most accessible
form of true escapist entertainment. And in the era of the internet, fan-boy hype can begin as early
as two years before release, ensuring free word-of-mouth marketing.
Kids, kiddults, and women are into these movies these days. And yes, it is a little disconcerting to
see your girlfriend openly drooling at men in spandex.

'The Amazing Spider-Man' trailer
Sandwiched in the middle, we have a “way too soon” reboot of Spider-Man – ‘The Amazing
Spider-Man’, especially for those of us who still have the image of Topher Grace repeatedly pulling
back his Venom symbiote mask.
But we digress! The first trailer left us thinking this would be a depressingly mopey take on ol'
Webhead, but the second trailer has shown a new side of Spidey -- the trash-talking kid from the
comics that wasn't shown much in the Raimi movies.

'The Dark Knight Rises' trailer
Rounding things off is Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. It's a
bittersweet thought, knowing that the movie before ‘Batman Begins’ was ‘Batman And Robin’ –
let's hope we never ever reach that point again – and while “The Dark Knight” is one of the best
movies of all time, surely the only way to top it is to have new villain Bane and Batman duel on
screen with unintelligible dialogue through slurred voices.
