We're joining Palomar5 for a workshop, presenting the Spreeraum Concept:
A large number of small investors buy a space along the rive Spree in Berlin and then have to negotiate on a platform online what to do with the space - so everyone benefits individually and as a community.
We're a playing a game to figure out how this could work.
2. wHat?
We buy a space next to the river spree. The principle is called crowd-funding and it
means that a large number of small investors carry a large project and develop it in
a common spirit.
3. wHy?
Today the city of Berlin is launching an urban renewal project called “Mediaspree”
to transform this area into a parade of streamline high-rise offices. The agenda of the
Mediaspree program is to wipe out the legacy of the city’s post-Berlin Wall era by
selling off the cultural landmarks that grew up around the Spree river partition zone.
15. ruLeS? DO aNytHiNG, but:
1. Pick a character.
2. Take some time to identify with .
your character.
3. Get to know each other by
explaining your character to the
others by cooking up a little story
production: tailor, small office, a big label, a factory...
about your life, a story that can
be developed further during the
whole game. shopping: streetmarket, supermarket, department store, a luxury boutique...
4. Depending on how much
space you bought, you can pick social service: mechanist as well as for a doctor, a youth club, a post office...
an amount of cubes that belongs
to you now. You decide how culture: street art as well as for a theatre, a cinema, a big museum...
many and which ones.
working bar/club/restaurant: take away, a club, a street café, a luxury restaurant...
leisure
housing
or permuations of those.
sports: fitness studio, a swimming pool, a big sports arena...
5. Decide, what exactly you’re
going to do in the spaces and
explain to the others, why your
project is for their benefit. The
more they agree, the more space
housing: a trailer park as for social housing, housing in old buildings, luxury lofts
they will share with you.
