SUMMARY
A European project aimed at parents with their hearing impaired child or children
associating professionals and parents for the first time in an HIPEN project on the
topic of FAMILY SUPPORT for families with educational and communication
difficulties with their deaf child or children. The project has the ambition of
reinforcing the partnership between parents and professionals and to formalize the
family support work for the well-being of the hearing impaired children. The final
objective is that family support could be clearly identified by parents as part of the
institutional framework of the specialized centers and close to the needs of families.
AIMS
1. To have a formal and practical report of family support
2. To define and formalize family support in theory and practice
3. To disseminate the results of the project, to communicate about it and to
evaluate the project and its results
MEANS
Define concepts (family support / parenthood / education / situation of
handicap) with the help of experts (philosophers for example)
Make an inventory of practices from each country

Create new practices

OUTCOMES
Make a common leaflet about family support adaptable to each country
Make an official and permanent survey tool about families
Integrate the project and its results in the institutional projects of each centre
