1. GUIDELINES FOR FAMILY
PAPER
• Please see 8 QUESTIONS FOR
The interviewee and submit
yours to: olazin@ucla.edu
• setup a preliminary interview
date.

2. Choosing Material Evidence
• - Primary source copy needed: one
document, or one object belonging to
family member being interviewed.
• - ask the person if you can record the
interview.
• -ask about the historical context of the
event/decision.

3. DECIDE ON AN EVENT
• Decide on a decision or event to be the
focus of your paper.
• See questionnaire, and find out if any
“secrets” exist in relation to the decision
or event in your family’s past.

4. WRITING THE PAPER AND
COMPILING MATERIAL
• Conduct your research into the
historical context of the event/decision.
• The paper will be 3 pages long, and it
will include:
1. Introduction (introduce the person,
name, age, place of birth, his/her role in
the family).State the event or decision

5. Bring in a list of your interview
questions
• Feb. 27th.
• 2. Content: Summarize what your family
member said about the event /decision.
• 3. Conclusion:
• What you have learned from family member’s
experience.
• Photocopies or chart of your material
EVIDENCE.
