3. AP – All Pick. Heroes are picked from the entire pool.
4. SD – Single Draft. 3 heroes are given randomly and you pick one of the 3.
5.
6. The Minimap The large squares are your towers. Those are keeping their creeps at bay from your base. The small clusters of red and green are the creeps. Red is enemy, green is ally. You can see the 3 lanes in the minimap shown here.
7. Mid Game Mid game is when the most “ganking” occurs. Ganking is when you go and kill another hero unsuspectingly, sometimes with partners. This will give you more money and a nice chunk of experience, while denying your opponent the same. Ganking is almost a necessity to a win. Without ganking your opponents will just get strong. However, if you are one of the strong heroes on your team, sometimes neglecting to gank and expecting your team to take care of that while you keep gaining experience is fine.
8. The Gank Bloodlust means it was the first hero kill of the game. The killer gets 200 bonus gold.
9. End Game The goal of the game is to push with your creeps in your lane and destroy the towers in your path. Once the towers are out of your way, you can slowly make your way to their base and end the game. Usually the deciding factor of a game comes down to a “team battle” The teams will clash in a lane and only one will come out victorious. The respawn timer will be really long that late in the game and the stronger team will get plenty of time to push into the base. Respawn timer – When you die, there is a time limit before you come back to life in your base. Early game the timer is only 10-15 seconds while late game the timer can go up to 60-80 seconds.
10. Creeps Creeps are the little warriors that materialize at your base and walk along the path towards the other base. Pushing with creeps is the goal to victory. Pushing alone will only get you killed. Last hitting – When you are the last hit on a creep you get bonus gold. The key to getting a lot of gold is to always last hit so you get a nice chunk of change to spend. Denying – When one of your creeps or towers is almost dead you have the ability to attack it. Instead of normal right-clicking you must choose attack and click on the unit. Denying a tower gives the enemies only half of what it’s worth and denying a creep gives them less experience.
11. Towers Towers deal a high amount of damage. Tower Diving – Tower diving is when people get too reckless and run in to towers to try and kill another hero. Most of the time they’ll only find a way to immobilize you and let the tower finish you off. Don’t do this. Destroying towers give your team 200 gold each. Last hitting a tower will give you upwards to around 500. A denied tower will only give 100 gold to the team.
