Imagine you're a parent of a young teenage girl and one day she comes to you and tells you she is
pregnant. How would you handle this situation? If you were able to go back in time before all this
happened, how would you try to prevent this? Would you even consider making your daughter
watch the hit shows on MTV called 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom? What if you were the who is
pregnant, or you are the one responsible for getting a young teenage girl pregnant? How do you tell
your parents and family? If you were exposed to the reality of having a baby would you may be
rethought your actions? These TV shows 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom just might be the key to
aiding in the prevention of teen pregnancy.

The mother of the child parents may not be able to or willing to help or support the child and the
teen mom is usually in no place to support herself let alone a child. Without higher education a
mom may find it difficult to find a job that can support her and the child as well as child care while
she is in school or at work.
Amber who was born on May 14, 1990 in Anderson Indiana was cast on 16 and Pregnant in 2008.
She also starred in Teen Mom. Amber has a daughter named Leah Leann Shirley with her
boyfriend Gary Shirley. Amber is one of the most controversial characters on the show, she used
physical violence against her boyfriend Gary in front of her daughter. In one case, she left
permanent scars on Gary. Amber lost custody of her daughter after being arrested for domestic
violence. She served a five–year sentence from December 2011 arrest for drug possession and

Hopefully in the long run the number of teen and unplanned pregnancies will decrease but in my
opinion this show would not have a big impact of helping preventing them. It's because the show
portrays girls from different parts of the country, different family settings, some supportive and some

When you hear the words "teen pregnancy" what is the first thing that pops up in your head. In the
state of Ohio there is approximately 8,755 births to teens were in 2015. Most teen births in Ohio,

A girl can become pregnant from sexual intercourse after she has begun to ovulate which can be
before her first menstrual period, but usually occurs after the onset of her periods. In well–nourished
girls, menarche usually takes place around the age of 12 or 13. Most teenage girls don 't plan to get
pregnant, but many do. Teen pregnancies carry extra health risks to both the mother and the baby.
Often, teens don 't get prenatal care soon enough, which can lead to problems later on. They have a
higher risk for pregnancy–related high blood pressure and its complications. Risks for the baby
include premature birth and a low birth weight. The numbers of teenage pregnancy are very high
but when you think about the numbers most could have been prevented with the use of protection.
Some people may not afford condoms but if you cannot afford a condom you cannot afford a baby.

What is Teen Pregnancy? It is the pregnancy of adolescent girls from the ages of 13–20. Teen
Pregnancy is one of the most trending things happening in today's society. Statistics shows that
1,000,000 girls become pregnant every year (Garth). Being that the United States is in the highest
percentage of teen pregnancy, 40% will have government assistance (Garth). The teen birth rate from
1990–1995 per 1,000 girls was 64 in the United States from 15 to 19 year olds, 13% in Germany,
9% in France, and 7% . The rate of teen abortion in the United States is higher than Europe with
statistics showing that 17% per 1,000 girls, 7.9% in France, 5.2% in Netherlands. Germany is the

harassed, then you should talk to a trusted friend or family member and get some professional

son's father constantly because they were both extremely immature, to being married and with a

pregnancy impacts adolescent development in all aspects: physical, emotional, cognitive, and social

school dropout rates, lower educational levels, and increased rates of substance abuse (Garwood,

can lead to traumatic results. These complications can vary, however young girls are prone to them
