Persuasive Essay: Cooking At Home Vs. Eating Out
Persuasive Essay Cooking at home vs eating out I am sure everyone would like to achieve their
life goals faster by being more productive and financially responsible. Furthermore, being healthy
makes a person physically able to work and achieve said goals. All these things are connected to
food. It is a well–established fact that the most fundamental need for us humans is food. Life is
impossible if we are not able to consume food to fulfill our body's nutritional requirements;
therefore, it is crucial for our survival. When it comes to fulfilling this need, we are faced with only
two apparent choices: cooking the meal our self in our home or acquiring ready–made meals from a
food service establishment. Both of these devices can fulfill our need; whereas, cooking at home is
clearly the better option due to the fact that it is more economic, faster, and healthier. Some may
argue that cooking at home is a waste of time and may cost more money. They...show more content...
If anyone wants to be financially stable, and also wants to save a good amount of money, then
cooking at home is the best option for them. Lampert (2016), writes in her article about a survey
conducted by Cheapism.com, in which they compared the prices of a chicken dinner among four
popular American restaurant chains. The results turned out to be an average of 13.41 USD and
16 USD with tip. However, when they made a similar meal at home, the total cost came out to be
just 6.41 USD, less than half of the price. Looking at this data, it is clear that cooking at home is
considerably cheaper than eating out. Moreover, the money saved from this can be used in more
useful ways, such as making investments which can yield great profit over time, and using it to
improve the quality of one's life by upgrading living standards or acquiring luxury items. All of this
can be achieved just by cooking at

Descriptive Essay About Cooking
Cooking has been my passion since I was a very small child. I remember being too small to really
be in the kitchen, around five or so and looking into the kitchen from the doorway and looking out
at all of the hustle and bustle, my mother and Yaya happily shouting orders in rapid Greek to the
other women who were my aunts and other cousins. I watched them work together to create my
favorite things in my small world. This kitchen in this cozy house on a hill was our heartbeat as a
family. It was our safe haven. I didn't realize it then, but few things will ever mean as much to me as
creating food in that kitchen.
I remember watching as sticky sweet syrup was poured over layers of crisp phyllo that I knew would

I learned patience, and nothing is harder to kids than waiting to eat cake. I leaned the hash feeling
of failure and the incredible feeling of victory that creating gives you. I also learned responsibility
that chores can provide. I am so grateful for the lesson my mother and Yaya taught me every day.
But out every early sweet or savory dish, I have ever loved Souvlaki or kabobs the best. They were
my version of chicken nuggets. I ate them directly for the stick it was on, in a pita, or next to
French fries. I loved them and that is what this book is devoted to. I believe that there is a kabob
for everyone and certainly I have never found one that I didn't like. This book will be filled with
great kabob recipes and sauces as well as other delicious sides to complete your meal in a stunningly
delicious fashion.
I want to share with your some of that warm and fuzzy feeling, some of those lessons, and a bit of
the happiness that defined my childhood and life as a whole. With these recipes, you will be
transported to my kitchen. Welcome, It's Great to See You!
A Brief History of the Kabob
The phrase kebab means "skewered meat" in Greek, however, the more common name for kabob is
Souvlaki, meaning skewers. For simplicity's sake, I will be referring to them as kabobs in this
book. This is essentially the only rule for which Kabobs are held to, they should be meat

My Passion For Cooking Essay
I've always had a passion for cooking. When I was a little girl I loved to cook and enjoyed learning
about all sort of cuisines. Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days
it isn't even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it's a classic, but something that I've created. Cooking
is my time to be me. It's the "art form" I pride myself at being good at and I don't have to try
(unlike drawing...not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I
discover new foods and ingredients. My mind feels "at home" when it's in the process of creating
in the kitchen. It's fun getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping,
stirring, adding a pinch of this and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook.
Finally the reward of my creativity is taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work
I've done is fully realized when I can share my work with others.
Cooking is pure joy and fun for me. I cook as a way to ground myself, to think clearly and to relax
for a change. I enjoy researching ingredients I've never heard of before, what pairs best with this
spice or that vegetable. When someone strikes up a conversation with me about cooking, I could
go on for hours, so be prepared! Through cuts, burns, failed recipes, forgotten ingredients, I still find
joy in the art of cooking. Losing this passion would surely be like losing myself.
As a way to challenge myself, I started selling

Reflection On Cooking
Cooking Reflection Essay
On the 24th of October we started planning for our major cooking assessment, which took place
on the 1st of November. Our task was to redesign the recipes of a basic pasta and muffin we made
at the start of the semester, to suit our own tastes and use flavour combinations to expand from the
basic recipe. We went to the Queen Victoria Market a day before the cook–off to buy ingredients we
would need in our groups, mine being, Ali, Toto, Isabelle, Raui and Josh.
A week before we cooked, we had to make a plan where we investigated, designed and produced a
pasta and muffin of our choice. The plan was a helpful guideline to what we had to do. We looked
at what could go wrong, what we wanted to achieve and what...show more content...
I think next time we should have more teamwork and not be scared to communicate.
I focused more on pasta with two other group members. There were many cooking techniques we
needed to use while making our pasta. We had to make sure that the tomatoes were broken down
and not too chunky. We had to make sure that prawns we used were cooked well enough so it
didn't have a slimy texture. We had make sure that the pasta wasn't over cooked and that didn't stick
together, which was something we did. We also had to make sure the sauce had balanced flavour
and that it was mixed through the pasta so there wasn't bits of bland pasta. We made some mistakes
with those techniques but overall it was pretty well done.
For our flavour combinations we had spicy prawn tomato pasta, and cappuccino and Carmel
muffins. We redesigned the recipes with those in it. Our combinations really worked together,
balancing each other out. The flavours were all there in the pasta and it didn't taste unbalanced or
odd. Our pasta also worked well together, the prawns and tomatoes making a good combination.
There wasn't much we needed to improve in our combinations, but the spice in pasta was a bit over
and didn't balance perfectly.
Our final dishes turned out successful. Our muffin presentation was neat and all the component
worked together. The cream balanced the bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of the Carmel
sauce. Our muffins recipe turned out to be a

Cooking competitions are exciting and fun to watch because of the suspense and wonders of
what might something taste like. The competitors seem to be well experienced every time there
is a cook off is in town there are lots of professional cooks and chefs which makes the competition
more aggressive and interesting. They also have amateur competitions which when anybody can
enter and win. Cooking competitions can and will help in the culinary field if you are trying to

something that all great chefs should master to do. Because if a chef has a full–house at his restaurant
that he works at and has to get everyone fed and doesn't know how to work under pressure he or
she will fail miserably. Working under pressure is and crucial requirement for a cook. Another
popular local cooking competition are the ribs cook offs, most of these types of cook offs are
done in the south. And this cook off is similar to the chili competition, because there are still
many ways you can make rib taste good. There is always many ways to cook all types of food just
to cook it you just have to know what to put together. There is a rib cook off coming up in August,
2014 called," 26th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook–off "; it is located in Victorian Square,
Nevada. It is said that there will be over five hundred thousand people at the event, this many
people will make most amateur chefs nervous. Working in these type of event will give you
practice in working with pressure. Most of this pressure will come from criticism from different
strangers who you have to improve to win. Local cooking competitions are a great way to train
yourself to work under pressure, more advanced type of competitions can help with pressure also

Introduction: Why Cook? Cooking is a task that every human being has to do in order to survive. In
the introduction of the book, Cooked, Michael Pollan gives a remarkable explanation about the
thoughts that men has on the importance of cooking. For instance, Pollan stated that anytime a man
is asked about the important of cooking, he would try and talk about how cooking is a feminine
thing. In my perspective, cooking is not my forte; however, I can cook very simple meals to my
satisfaction. What I love about cooking is the smell of the food as it is being cooked. One major
concern that I have with cooking would be the humidity of the room while cooking, for the
temperature being so warm. In my house the person that does all the cooking is

Persuasive Essay On How To Cook
Some people might consider cooking with loved ones is a wealth of happiness. Although I didn't
feel happiness when I started cooking with my mother, Rosa 39 years old, I felt the complete
opposite. While "learning" how to cook, my mother gave me constant pressure on wanting the food
to finish, taste, and look perfect. My mother didn't guide me through the cooking process she left me
alone with only steps in my head to depend on. If the food came out wrong and/or tasted without
flavor she automatically made a big deal by yelling at me how could I possibly mess up. She made
my self–esteem on cooking, drop to the greatest. I felt as if I wasn't meant to cook. Then I realized
no one is born a great cook, one can become a good cook by learning accurately.
I recall the day being a Saturday morning. My family and I had just woken up at about 7:30 a.m. I
remember I had just turned 12 years old. By that age I already knew I had to help my mother in
the kitchen with the tortillas by putting them to cook in the griddle. So I went into the kitchen to
do so for my mother. However that day had become distinct from any other regular day. I had just
walked into the kitchen when my mother told me I was going to cook the side dish. It took me by
surprise because I had never cooked any type of food and I thought I was a little too young to learn
at that age. I didn't feel ready nor did I know if I would be able to cook the side dish the way she did
it. I felt as small as an ant in the

Essay On Being A Chef
Being a chef goes above and beyond what the average person might expect. Beginning a journey
into the culinary arts and making a career out of it requires endless hours of practice as well as
laborious work. While some people are born with an intuition of what flavors that pair naturally
and how to assort them, in the current state of the profession, it is integral to have the right
qualifications ("What Does a"). This however, is not the only qualification; you must also have a
passion for the career as well as a tolerance for what it requires ("What Does it"). A career in the
culinary arts is quite unique, as is the path to achieve a substantial career, in addition a day in the
life of a chef contains chaos and a considerable amount of stress....show more content...
For example, you are required to obtain superior time management skills. This includes, making
sure that nothing is cooked too extensive a time period or too short, and that all the food is
prepared for a table simultaneously. In addition, taste is not always what is principal. A majority
of the dishes' personality pertains to how you present it. The visual aspect is just as important, if
not more so, than how the food actually tastes. "Visual is extremely important, involving how food
is plated and arranged, ideally displaying different textures and colors. A professional chef is an
artist and the plate is the canvas ("What Does a")." After reading this quote it is easy to understand
just how monumental the presentation aspect of a dish can be, and also how exciting presenting can
be for someone with artistic intuition. While presentation and time management are exceedingly
important, it is also important to have quality people skills. Being a chef means collaborating with
people that may not always be the most friendly in the kitchen, as well as addressing people who
may not present the kindest criticisms about the food outside the kitchen. Having the right people
skills is necessary in ensuring that what goes on behind the kitchen doors is a smooth process

Homemade Food Is The Best Choice
Cooking and eating is always fun, especially homemade food. Food is one of the primary
necessities of humans and also plays a vital role in maintaining good health. People work hard to
eat; it does not matter if it is healthy or not, but healthy eating prevents a variety of health problems.
For some people eating is an option, but for others they live to eat. People enjoy cooking their own
meals; it gives us peace of mind, satisfaction, and a guarantee of cleanliness. Homemade food is
always treated as a privilege, especially with our hectic life schedules. Now a days, people seldom

They all love homemade food instead of fast food because they say it is delicious. Talking with
people who cook at home, most stated that they make fresh ingredients at home, like grind and
powder all seasonings and curries, so it gives the best flavor, taste, and smell. According to
British Broad Casting, The World Health Organization recommends greatly reducing the intake
of processed foods, because it is not freshly made and people do not know how long it is been in
the freezer or what all ingredients in it (World). Eating at our own kitchen table allow us to eat
more fresh fruits and vegetables so we can focus on all natural ingredients. Most of the people
who cook at home have their own kitchen garden also, so all the vegetables are fresh and organic.
This gives us a great satisfaction and peace of mind that it is fresh cooked meals from our own
garden to the table. The second reason to eat homemade food is that it helps to improve our health.
Before the wide spread availability of fast food restaurants, people always cooked their meals at
home; because of this, they were healthier and lived longer. There were not so many diseases like
myocardial infarction, diabetes, or hypertension; it is so popular now due to not controlling their diet
or eating out all the time. These disease conditions not only affect our health but it also affects our
economy. Unfortunately, many young adults or their

Essay on Restaurant Food vs. Home-Cooked Meals
Is it really worth going out to eat or is it better to eat home–cooked meals at home? Everyone has
different perspectives on where they like to eat and what they like to eat, but in reality, homemade
food is usually more healthy, nutritious, cheap, safe, and dependable. In addition, home–cooked
meals can give people a warm, comfy feeling that makes them feel more comfortable and allows
people to spend more quality time with their families or loved ones as they are able to enjoy a meal
made by someone sitting at the table. Although restaurants can be healthy, nutritious, cheap, and
authentic, restaurant food may not be as reliable and safe as the food can be made and served by

meals, people can choose to make the food the way they want and they are able to eat as much as
they want, knowing that the food is more safe and healthy. On the other hand, some restaurant foods
may be considered healthier and more nutritious than homemade foods. Submarine sandwiches from
Subway can be very similar to homemade sandwiches. The made to order restaurant, Subway,
makes sandwiches such as the six inch Italian B.M.T. that can be compared to the homemade Italian

be as healthy as homemade foods. Although many restaurants, especially fast food

Grandma's Cooking
Grandma's Cooking

Everyone has at least one memorable experience with their grandma, and I have been fortunate
enough to share countless memories with mine. A big portion of our memories involve food in one
way or another. One of the biggest values that my family holds is the importance of family meals.
Whenever we go to my grandparent's farm, my grandma never fails to overflow everyone's
stomachs and send everyone home with leftovers. Whether it be eating at the supper table or
feasting on Thanksgiving, my family makes it a point to be together and to make it a memorable
experience. Throughout this paper I will be sharing some of my favorite memories...show more

Before we dug in to the food in attempt to make a dent in what was all there, we went around the
table and said what we were thankful for that year, as we do every year. After that, we prayed
over the food. Then it was time to march to the front line and begin this annual battle. I hadn't
eaten the day before just so I could enjoy as much of my grandma's food as possible. After two or
three platefuls of pure deliciousness, I had to surrender to the table of food. I pushed my chair
back from the edge of the table and slouched to a more comfortable position so my stomach could
finally slump into a more suitable position for digesting the mountain of food I just stuffed into it.
Then I remembered what could never be forgotten. Dessert. Pumpkin, apple, and pecan pie are
just a few of my grandma's classic desserts. Along with some angel food cake and coffee, I forced
myself to make some room for all this extra mouthwatering goodness. I know I'm doing something
right whenever I gain a stretch mark or two as battle scars after one of my grandma's meals!
Another memory I share with my family is our traditional Christmas. Christmas at the Kirkebaks is
an all–day event. We leave our house in the late morning to early noon. After everyone arrives,
empty–stomached of course, we start our family–famous Christmas dinner. My grandma has

Informative Speech : Home Cooking
Introduction
The public will soon be getting much information from our class in an event that New Tech is
hosting, and a lot of that information will come from our group. The topic that my group chose to
inform the public on and make up and experiment for in this project, Healthy Hometown, was home–
cooking. We noticed that there were many misconceptions about how long it takes to cook a
homemade meal, and that was a reoccurring excuse when people were questioned why they didn't
cook. We decided to make an experiment showing how long it takes for a homemade meal takes
to be cooked. For a week, we timed how long it took to made any homemade meal, breakfast,
lunch, or dinner, whether it was cooked by us or not. We also took time on how long it was for us
to eat out or get take out. We did this for over a week, and all recorded our data. I have had trouble
finding facts about this topic. There are many misconceptions and many recipes that have a short
time to take. Even though there are few known things about home cooking times, there is plenty
to know about home cooking versus eating out. One study shows that people are 47% more
likely to be alive in 10 years if they cook on average five times per week. ABC news claims that it
can take less time and cost less to cook a meal rather than order take out. Fox news says that,
"Children are more likely to eat and enjoy fruits and vegetables if they help grow, prepare, and cook
the items themselves..." and home cooked meals have a,

You should start by reading your recipe carefully and understand it. Make sure you have all the
ingredients needed to bake the cookie. The most important thing in baking is care and accuracy
is a must for the cookie to be perfect. Your cooking tools should be good and use standard
measuring spoons and cups. The pan should be the correct size, and then prepare it as instructed
in the recipe. Your ingredients should be top quality, fresh and set according to the recipe. If the
recipe states that an ingredient should be at room temperature, make sure it is that way. Baking
powder can be tested for potency by adding it to hot water; it should bubble if it is good. Mix
baking powder to the flour before adding the other wet ingredients to ensure even distribution of
the powder. All ingredients should be at room temperature for perfect cookies unless the recipe
states otherwise. Measure your ingredients carefully by use of measuring cups or spoons. The
oven should be preheated for about 10 or 15mins before starting to bake the cookies. The
temperature of the oven should be exactly as stated in the recipe because too hot or too cold oven

ever has time to cook, so families are always going out to eat at a restaurant. This essay will include
comparison between eating at home and eating at a restaurant in terms of the price, cleanliness, taste
and service.
When a family eats at home they, will pay less than restaurants because when they buy food from the
market they buy for better quality and a better price.
When families eat at home they know everything that has been added in their meal and know the
cleanliness of their own kitchen. Moreover, they know if the food was washed and cooked well. At

Eating at home is how to maintain a good health.
Eating at home is of course better in everything for example service, service at home is usually
better because you can serve your self without waiting for someone to serve you. You can get how
much you want whenever you want. But some individuals would have domestic helpers for their
house work, also they may serve the family their meal.
Eating at a restaurant is more expensive than home food, its usually more expensive because the
restaurant adds taxes and money for the service. Also, the restaurant serves sometimes less quality
than what you buy and less quantity.
When you eat at a restaurant where you eat may be very clean and spotless so they can attract
people going in this restaurant and eating but the worst part is you are never sure about their kitchen
cleanliness unless you go inside where your meal is cooked.
Eating at a restaurant (taste)
When people go to restaurants they like the food more because it is very oily and fatty and in fast
food restaurants example McDonalds tastes good because they add the chickens skin and spices that
makes the burger tastier which makes you the eater fattier and therefore affects his/her health.
Eating at a restaurant (service)
When you eat at a restaurant, first the waiter must ask you if you want water and a starter later on,
he/she comes and asks if you picked your order yet if so you would order but

My challenge for my first class would be just to break the ice and introduce myself to the group
with small talk. After this, it was easy to interact with people in the class. The area of personal
growth that improved, was my habit of taking over or micromanaging a kitchen. Breaking this trait
was difficult, especially when it came to teaching how to use an outdoor grill for hamburgers.
Stepping back, guiding participants was well worth it to see their sense of accomplishment in
grilling hamburgers, without getting burned from flair–ups that they were worried about was the
most rewarding. In this final portion, I will detail the importance of wealth and the role of
families play in the lives of people with disabilities. Lastly, I will relate what this program offer for
people with disabilities. One important observation that was made during my time with service
learning is how important wealth and family is for people with disabilities to succeed in society.
Being able to participate in programs similar to the "Adaptive Cooking Program" costs money and
with some might be out of reach. Many adult participants are on government assistance and are able
to participate in programs that resemble each other but in a reduced social environment. The
reasoning for this is that when using

Essay on Working in the Kitchen: Culinary Arts
Most of us have a general outlook about what a career consists of. Despite that details are not

A construction worker can be drawn into dangerous situations, and a chef is no different. This all
depends on varying circumstances. The main cause of house fires and other injuries is peoples'
inattentiveness and distracted behavior. It is no mystery that, unattended food will eventually start
to burn. It would be convenient if we had a small television in our kitchen, so we can enjoy the
soap opera while making an omelet. It is a fact that injuries from cooking fires are most common
among people between the ages of 30 to 49.
(http://www.fsis.usda.gov/factsheets/basics_for_handling_food_safely/). People can become
disfigured in a fire, or lose a part of their body. This is horrid and a very sad effect of carelessness.
There are some tips to help prevent grease fires, such as putting a lid on the pan, or tossing baking
soda on the flames. Several suggested safety rules for the stove are, to prevent boil–over's use the
adequate amount of ingredients or liquids, avoid grease spills that may catch on fire, keep your

Cooking Is The Art And Science Of Cooking
Introduction:–
"Cooking is the art and science of preparing food for eating by the application of heat". It includes
full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats,
fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning
meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast
killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the
customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary
technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to
steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as
toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no
further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods
improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period .
The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling,
frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks...show more content...

Essay on My Cook-Out
The night before Easter I couldn't sleep knowing what a great day it going to be with delicious food.
I had a dream of all the great food we were going to bar–b–que with sides and desserts. My dad and
I woke up early Easter Sunday to get everything ready and I knew it was going to be perfect. We
started bar–b–queing and I just love the way it smells when I just barely put it on the bar–b–que pit.
Especially after the meat cooks for a while, and I open the lid and a white cloud of smoke emerges
into my face like when a car burns out and I just inhale then exhale the aroma of the meat. My
family and I love to bar–b–que for Easter, so we invite our friends and family to come to our house
to have fun and to have a memorable time. My dad, my...show more content...
The bar–b–que is almost done on my dad's pit he had his famous luscious, savory, and juicy beef
fajitas with a little touch of lemon juice that I die for. Also he makes the best baby back ribs, with
Jack Daniel's bar–b–que sauce, where before I even tried to bite into them the meat just fell right
off the bone and into my mouth. On my tio's pit he has the juiciest and crispiest chicken wrapped
in sizzling bacon with soft and creamy mozzarella cheese between them and when I bit into it I
felt like I was in heaven floating into the sky. He loves to marinate the chicken in his homemade
sauce that he only knows how to make. This is my tio's favorite chicken to make and I eat it slowly
to savor its perfect flavor. He knows how to cook chicken perfectly that everybody loves. On my
grill I had what makes a bar–b–que which is roasted corn my all time favorite. My corn comes out
so crunchy and juicy, especially when I put a lot of butter, lemon pepper, and lucas ittaste so good,
and I love when I bite into it because the juices squirt out on to my face and that's when you know
its comes out perfect. My other favorite I love to cook is sausage I love hear the way it sizzles
and smells while it sizzles it's like music to my ears. Then when you bite into it the juices squirt out
into my mouth and on my hand. The juice from biting the sausage makes it so great because it
leaves a mouthwatering flavor that you want to savor for a life time. My

Cooking Is Cooking Essay
Cooking is a necessity for everyone. Everyone in their life time needs to learn how to cook
because cooking makes food taste better. Without cooking, everyone would eat raw fruits,
vegetables etc. I am still learning how to cook but I consider it my hobby. Cooking is my hobby
because I can spend time with my family, it is fun and because of the Food Network Channel. I now
a days rarely spend time with my family. I am busy with homework, college applications and
ACT/SAT tests. I have no time to sit down a chat with my family. I love my family every much,
but I could be better of spending my time finishing all that I have to do to make time for my
family. One of the few times I get to spend with my family is by cooking. I usually help my mom
cook lunch and dinner during the weekends and cook with my dad on the weekdays. I am still a
beginner. I can only the basic breakfast items like eggs, pancakes etc. Whenever I help my parents
out, I am always learning and I get to spend time with time. When the food is cooking and I have to
stand watching the pot till it is done, I talk with my mom and dad. Sometimes, my brother would
come in and...show more content...
While cooking, I can come up with so many ideas. I can mix ingredients together and concoct some
type of dish. I consider cooking as a science and experiment. Before cooking, all the materials must
be gathered. After that, you follow the procedures on the recipe until you get a result. After the
result, you make a conclusion about adjusting that ingredient amounts and temperature etc. Cooking
opens up a possibility of anything to happen. I can make something really good that I didn't expect
to make, or I can make something bad that it causes some people to go to the hospital. I hope I don't
hurt people with my cooking; I am not a professional, but I am decent. Cooking is fun and
entertaining on the rare occasion that I have nothing to

Essays On Cooking

  • 1. Persuasive Essay: Cooking At Home Vs. Eating Out Persuasive Essay Cooking at home vs eating out I am sure everyone would like to achieve their life goals faster by being more productive and financially responsible. Furthermore, being healthy makes a person physically able to work and achieve said goals. All these things are connected to food. It is a well–established fact that the most fundamental need for us humans is food. Life is impossible if we are not able to consume food to fulfill our body's nutritional requirements; therefore, it is crucial for our survival. When it comes to fulfilling this need, we are faced with only two apparent choices: cooking the meal our self in our home or acquiring ready–made meals from a food service establishment. Both of these devices can fulfill our need; whereas, cooking at home is clearly the better option due to the fact that it is more economic, faster, and healthier. Some may argue that cooking at home is a waste of time and may cost more money. They...show more content... If anyone wants to be financially stable, and also wants to save a good amount of money, then cooking at home is the best option for them. Lampert (2016), writes in her article about a survey conducted by Cheapism.com, in which they compared the prices of a chicken dinner among four popular American restaurant chains. The results turned out to be an average of 13.41 USD and 16 USD with tip. However, when they made a similar meal at home, the total cost came out to be just 6.41 USD, less than half of the price. Looking at this data, it is clear that cooking at home is considerably cheaper than eating out. Moreover, the money saved from this can be used in more useful ways, such as making investments which can yield great profit over time, and using it to improve the quality of one's life by upgrading living standards or acquiring luxury items. All of this can be achieved just by cooking at Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay About Cooking Cooking has been my passion since I was a very small child. I remember being too small to really be in the kitchen, around five or so and looking into the kitchen from the doorway and looking out at all of the hustle and bustle, my mother and Yaya happily shouting orders in rapid Greek to the other women who were my aunts and other cousins. I watched them work together to create my favorite things in my small world. This kitchen in this cozy house on a hill was our heartbeat as a family. It was our safe haven. I didn't realize it then, but few things will ever mean as much to me as creating food in that kitchen. I remember watching as sticky sweet syrup was poured over layers of crisp phyllo that I knew would we the best thing I would...show more content... I learned patience, and nothing is harder to kids than waiting to eat cake. I leaned the hash feeling of failure and the incredible feeling of victory that creating gives you. I also learned responsibility that chores can provide. I am so grateful for the lesson my mother and Yaya taught me every day. But out every early sweet or savory dish, I have ever loved Souvlaki or kabobs the best. They were my version of chicken nuggets. I ate them directly for the stick it was on, in a pita, or next to French fries. I loved them and that is what this book is devoted to. I believe that there is a kabob for everyone and certainly I have never found one that I didn't like. This book will be filled with great kabob recipes and sauces as well as other delicious sides to complete your meal in a stunningly delicious fashion. I want to share with your some of that warm and fuzzy feeling, some of those lessons, and a bit of the happiness that defined my childhood and life as a whole. With these recipes, you will be transported to my kitchen. Welcome, It's Great to See You! A Brief History of the Kabob The phrase kebab means "skewered meat" in Greek, however, the more common name for kabob is Souvlaki, meaning skewers. For simplicity's sake, I will be referring to them as kabobs in this book. This is essentially the only rule for which Kabobs are held to, they should be meat Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Passion For Cooking Essay I've always had a passion for cooking. When I was a little girl I loved to cook and enjoyed learning about all sort of cuisines. Today, I am still in the kitchen and every chance I get, I cook. Some days it isn't even fancy or a hard recipe. Some days it's a classic, but something that I've created. Cooking is my time to be me. It's the "art form" I pride myself at being good at and I don't have to try (unlike drawing...not so good at that!). Like a child getting a new toy, I get excited when I discover new foods and ingredients. My mind feels "at home" when it's in the process of creating in the kitchen. It's fun getting the ingredients, piling them all on the counter, then chopping, stirring, adding a pinch of this and a splash of that. Then I have to wait for everything to cook. Finally the reward of my creativity is taken out of the oven and placed on a plate. The creative work I've done is fully realized when I can share my work with others. Cooking is pure joy and fun for me. I cook as a way to ground myself, to think clearly and to relax for a change. I enjoy researching ingredients I've never heard of before, what pairs best with this spice or that vegetable. When someone strikes up a conversation with me about cooking, I could go on for hours, so be prepared! Through cuts, burns, failed recipes, forgotten ingredients, I still find joy in the art of cooking. Losing this passion would surely be like losing myself. As a way to challenge myself, I started selling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Reflection On Cooking Cooking Reflection Essay On the 24th of October we started planning for our major cooking assessment, which took place on the 1st of November. Our task was to redesign the recipes of a basic pasta and muffin we made at the start of the semester, to suit our own tastes and use flavour combinations to expand from the basic recipe. We went to the Queen Victoria Market a day before the cook–off to buy ingredients we would need in our groups, mine being, Ali, Toto, Isabelle, Raui and Josh. A week before we cooked, we had to make a plan where we investigated, designed and produced a pasta and muffin of our choice. The plan was a helpful guideline to what we had to do. We looked at what could go wrong, what we wanted to achieve and what...show more content... I think next time we should have more teamwork and not be scared to communicate. I focused more on pasta with two other group members. There were many cooking techniques we needed to use while making our pasta. We had to make sure that the tomatoes were broken down and not too chunky. We had to make sure that prawns we used were cooked well enough so it didn't have a slimy texture. We had make sure that the pasta wasn't over cooked and that didn't stick together, which was something we did. We also had to make sure the sauce had balanced flavour and that it was mixed through the pasta so there wasn't bits of bland pasta. We made some mistakes with those techniques but overall it was pretty well done. For our flavour combinations we had spicy prawn tomato pasta, and cappuccino and Carmel muffins. We redesigned the recipes with those in it. Our combinations really worked together, balancing each other out. The flavours were all there in the pasta and it didn't taste unbalanced or odd. Our pasta also worked well together, the prawns and tomatoes making a good combination. There wasn't much we needed to improve in our combinations, but the spice in pasta was a bit over and didn't balance perfectly. Our final dishes turned out successful. Our muffin presentation was neat and all the component worked together. The cream balanced the bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of the Carmel sauce. Our muffins recipe turned out to be a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The competitors seem to be well experienced every time there is a cook off is in town there are lots of professional cooks and chefs which makes the competition more aggressive and interesting. They also have amateur competitions which when anybody can enter and win. Cooking competitions can and will help in the culinary field if you are trying to get a job and need experience. The pressure was at the highest peak for the contestants. Working under pressure is something that all great chefs should master to do. Because if a chef has a full–house at his restaurant that he works at and has to get everyone fed and doesn't know how to work under pressure he or she will fail miserably. Working under pressure is and crucial requirement for a cook. Another popular local cooking competition are the ribs cook offs, most of these types of cook offs are done in the south. And this cook off is similar to the chili competition, because there are still many ways you can make rib taste good. There is always many ways to cook all types of food just to cook it you just have to know what to put together. There is a rib cook off coming up in August, 2014 called," 26th annual Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook–off "; it is located in Victorian Square, Nevada. It is said that there will be over five hundred thousand people at the event, this many people will make most amateur chefs nervous. Working in these type of event will give you practice in working with pressure. Most of this pressure will come from criticism from different strangers who you have to improve to win. • 6. Introduction: Why Cook? Cooking is a task that every human being has to do in order to survive. In the introduction of the book, Cooked, Michael Pollan gives a remarkable explanation about the thoughts that men has on the importance of cooking. For instance, Pollan stated that anytime a man is asked about the important of cooking, he would try and talk about how cooking is a feminine thing. In my perspective, cooking is not my forte; however, I can cook very simple meals to my satisfaction. What I love about cooking is the smell of the food as it is being cooked. One major concern that I have with cooking would be the humidity of the room while cooking, for the temperature being so warm. • 7. Persuasive Essay On How To Cook Some people might consider cooking with loved ones is a wealth of happiness. Although I didn't feel happiness when I started cooking with my mother, Rosa 39 years old, I felt the complete opposite. While "learning" how to cook, my mother gave me constant pressure on wanting the food to finish, taste, and look perfect. My mother didn't guide me through the cooking process she left me alone with only steps in my head to depend on. If the food came out wrong and/or tasted without flavor she automatically made a big deal by yelling at me how could I possibly mess up. She made my self–esteem on cooking, drop to the greatest. I felt as if I wasn't meant to cook. Then I realized no one is born a great cook, one can become a good cook by learning accurately. I recall the day being a Saturday morning. My family and I had just woken up at about 7:30 a.m. I remember I had just turned 12 years old. By that age I already knew I had to help my mother in the kitchen with the tortillas by putting them to cook in the griddle. So I went into the kitchen to do so for my mother. However that day had become distinct from any other regular day. I had just walked into the kitchen when my mother told me I was going to cook the side dish. It took me by surprise because I had never cooked any type of food and I thought I was a little too young to learn at that age. I didn't feel ready nor did I know if I would be able to cook the side dish the way she did it. I felt as small as an ant in the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay On Being A Chef Being a chef goes above and beyond what the average person might expect. Beginning a journey into the culinary arts and making a career out of it requires endless hours of practice as well as laborious work. While some people are born with an intuition of what flavors that pair naturally and how to assort them, in the current state of the profession, it is integral to have the right qualifications ("What Does a"). This however, is not the only qualification; you must also have a passion for the career as well as a tolerance for what it requires ("What Does it"). A career in the culinary arts is quite unique, as is the path to achieve a substantial career, in addition a day in the life of a chef contains chaos and a considerable amount of stress....show more content... For example, you are required to obtain superior time management skills. This includes, making sure that nothing is cooked too extensive a time period or too short, and that all the food is prepared for a table simultaneously. In addition, taste is not always what is principal. A majority of the dishes' personality pertains to how you present it. The visual aspect is just as important, if not more so, than how the food actually tastes. "Visual is extremely important, involving how food is plated and arranged, ideally displaying different textures and colors. A professional chef is an artist and the plate is the canvas ("What Does a")." After reading this quote it is easy to understand just how monumental the presentation aspect of a dish can be, and also how exciting presenting can be for someone with artistic intuition. While presentation and time management are exceedingly important, it is also important to have quality people skills. Being a chef means collaborating with people that may not always be the most friendly in the kitchen, as well as addressing people who may not present the kindest criticisms about the food outside the kitchen. Having the right people skills is necessary in ensuring that what goes on behind the kitchen doors is a smooth process ("What it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Homemade Food Is The Best Choice Cooking and eating is always fun, especially homemade food. Food is one of the primary necessities of humans and also plays a vital role in maintaining good health. People work hard to eat; it does not matter if it is healthy or not, but healthy eating prevents a variety of health problems. For some people eating is an option, but for others they live to eat. People enjoy cooking their own meals; it gives us peace of mind, satisfaction, and a guarantee of cleanliness. Homemade food is always treated as a privilege, especially with our hectic life schedules. Now a days, people seldom cook at home and find a good reason to go out and eat. There are many different choices when it comes to food, but homemade food is the best choice...show more content... They all love homemade food instead of fast food because they say it is delicious. Talking with people who cook at home, most stated that they make fresh ingredients at home, like grind and powder all seasonings and curries, so it gives the best flavor, taste, and smell. According to British Broad Casting, The World Health Organization recommends greatly reducing the intake of processed foods, because it is not freshly made and people do not know how long it is been in the freezer or what all ingredients in it (World). Eating at our own kitchen table allow us to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables so we can focus on all natural ingredients. Most of the people who cook at home have their own kitchen garden also, so all the vegetables are fresh and organic. This gives us a great satisfaction and peace of mind that it is fresh cooked meals from our own garden to the table. The second reason to eat homemade food is that it helps to improve our health. Before the wide spread availability of fast food restaurants, people always cooked their meals at home; because of this, they were healthier and lived longer. There were not so many diseases like myocardial infarction, diabetes, or hypertension; it is so popular now due to not controlling their diet or eating out all the time. • 10. Essay on Restaurant Food vs. Home-Cooked Meals Is it really worth going out to eat or is it better to eat home–cooked meals at home? Everyone has different perspectives on where they like to eat and what they like to eat, but in reality, homemade food is usually more healthy, nutritious, cheap, safe, and dependable. In addition, home–cooked meals can give people a warm, comfy feeling that makes them feel more comfortable and allows people to spend more quality time with their families or loved ones as they are able to enjoy a meal made by someone sitting at the table. Although restaurants can be healthy, nutritious, cheap, and authentic, restaurant food may not be as reliable and safe as the food can be made and served by strangers. In home cooked meals, people can choose to make the food the way they want and they are able to eat as much as they want, knowing that the food is more safe and healthy. On the other hand, some restaurant foods may be considered healthier and more nutritious than homemade foods. Submarine sandwiches from Subway can be very similar to homemade sandwiches. The made to order restaurant, Subway, makes sandwiches such as the six inch Italian B.M.T. that can be compared to the homemade Italian subs shown by the Food Network. The Italian B.M.T. submarine from Subway contains 410 calories, 20 grams of proteins, and 16 grams of total fat, while the homemade Italian submarine sandwich contains 663 calories, 31 grams of protein, and 50 grams of fat. This Italian B.M.T. from Subway is more nutritious and healthy than the homemade sub, but both uses fresh produces and are very closely alike. • 11. Grandma's Cooking Grandma's Cooking Dillon J. Bosler University of Northern Iowa Everyone has at least one memorable experience with their grandma, and I have been fortunate enough to share countless memories with mine. A big portion of our memories involve food in one way or another. One of the biggest values that my family holds is the importance of family meals. Whenever we go to my grandparent's farm, my grandma never fails to overflow everyone's stomachs and send everyone home with leftovers. Whether it be eating at the supper table or feasting on Thanksgiving, my family makes it a point to be together and to make it a memorable experience. Throughout this paper I will be sharing some of my favorite memories...show more content... Before we dug in to the food in attempt to make a dent in what was all there, we went around the table and said what we were thankful for that year, as we do every year. After that, we prayed over the food. Then it was time to march to the front line and begin this annual battle. I hadn't eaten the day before just so I could enjoy as much of my grandma's food as possible. After two or three platefuls of pure deliciousness, I had to surrender to the table of food. I pushed my chair back from the edge of the table and slouched to a more comfortable position so my stomach could finally slump into a more suitable position for digesting the mountain of food I just stuffed into it. Then I remembered what could never be forgotten. Dessert. Pumpkin, apple, and pecan pie are just a few of my grandma's classic desserts. Along with some angel food cake and coffee, I forced myself to make some room for all this extra mouthwatering goodness. I know I'm doing something right whenever I gain a stretch mark or two as battle scars after one of my grandma's meals! Another memory I share with my family is our traditional Christmas. Christmas at the Kirkebaks is an all–day event. We leave our house in the late morning to early noon. After everyone arrives, empty–stomached of course, we start our family–famous Christmas dinner. My grandma has prepared turkey, homemade gravy, mashed Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Informative Speech : Home Cooking Introduction The public will soon be getting much information from our class in an event that New Tech is hosting, and a lot of that information will come from our group. The topic that my group chose to inform the public on and make up and experiment for in this project, Healthy Hometown, was home– cooking. We noticed that there were many misconceptions about how long it takes to cook a homemade meal, and that was a reoccurring excuse when people were questioned why they didn't cook. We decided to make an experiment showing how long it takes for a homemade meal takes to be cooked. For a week, we timed how long it took to made any homemade meal, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, whether it was cooked by us or not. We also took time on how long it was for us to eat out or get take out. We did this for over a week, and all recorded our data. I have had trouble finding facts about this topic. There are many misconceptions and many recipes that have a short time to take. Even though there are few known things about home cooking times, there is plenty to know about home cooking versus eating out. One study shows that people are 47% more likely to be alive in 10 years if they cook on average five times per week. ABC news claims that it can take less time and cost less to cook a meal rather than order take out. Fox news says that, "Children are more likely to eat and enjoy fruits and vegetables if they help grow, prepare, and cook the items themselves..." and home cooked meals have a, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

You should start by reading your recipe carefully and understand it. Make sure you have all the ingredients needed to bake the cookie. The most important thing in baking is care and accuracy is a must for the cookie to be perfect. Your cooking tools should be good and use standard measuring spoons and cups. The pan should be the correct size, and then prepare it as instructed in the recipe. Your ingredients should be top quality, fresh and set according to the recipe. If the recipe states that an ingredient should be at room temperature, make sure it is that way. Baking powder can be tested for potency by adding it to hot water; it should bubble if it is good. All ingredients should be at room temperature for perfect cookies unless the recipe states otherwise. Measure your ingredients carefully by use of measuring cups or spoons. This essay will include comparison between eating at home and eating at a restaurant in terms of the price, cleanliness, taste and service. When a family eats at home they, will pay less than restaurants because when they buy food from the market they buy for better quality and a better price. When families eat at home they know everything that has been added in their meal and know the cleanliness of their own kitchen. Moreover, they know if the food was washed and cooked well. At home they know that the cook has washed his/her hands. Also at...show more content... Eating at home is how to maintain a good health. Eating at home is of course better in everything for example service, service at home is usually better because you can serve your self without waiting for someone to serve you. You can get how much you want whenever you want. But some individuals would have domestic helpers for their house work, also they may serve the family their meal. Eating at a restaurant is more expensive than home food, its usually more expensive because the restaurant adds taxes and money for the service. Also, the restaurant serves sometimes less quality than what you buy and less quantity. When you eat at a restaurant where you eat may be very clean and spotless so they can attract people going in this restaurant and eating but the worst part is you are never sure about their kitchen cleanliness unless you go inside where your meal is cooked. Eating at a restaurant (taste) When people go to restaurants they like the food more because it is very oily and fatty and in fast food restaurants example McDonalds tastes good because they add the chickens skin and spices that makes the burger tastier which makes you the eater fattier and therefore affects his/her health. Eating at a restaurant (service) When you eat at a restaurant, first the waiter must ask you if you want water and a starter later on, he/she comes and asks if you picked your order yet if so you would order but Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My challenge for my first class would be just to break the ice and introduce myself to the group with small talk. After this, it was easy to interact with people in the class. The area of personal growth that improved, was my habit of taking over or micromanaging a kitchen. Breaking this trait was difficult, especially when it came to teaching how to use an outdoor grill for hamburgers. Stepping back, guiding participants was well worth it to see their sense of accomplishment in grilling hamburgers, without getting burned from flair–ups that they were worried about was the most rewarding. In this final portion, I will detail the importance of wealth and the role of families play in the lives of people with disabilities. Lastly, I will relate what this program offer for people with disabilities. One important observation that was made during my time with service learning is how important wealth and family is for people with disabilities to succeed in society. Being able to participate in programs similar to the "Adaptive Cooking Program" costs money and with some might be out of reach. Many adult participants are on government assistance and are able to participate in programs that resemble each other but in a reduced social environment. The reasoning for this is that when using Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It includes full range of culinary techniques: preparing raw, cooked foods for the table; final dressing of meats, fish, and fowl; cleaning, cutting fruits, vegetables; preparing salads; garnishing dishes, planning meals. Origins of cooking are obscure. Primitive humans have savored roast meat, flesh of beast killed in forest fire was found to be more palatable and easier to chew and digest than the customary raw meat. However roasting spitted meats over fires remained virtually the sole culinary technique until the Paleolithic Period, when the Aurignacian people of southern France began to steam their food over hot embers by wrapping it in wet leaves. Aside from such hard procedures as toasting wild grains on flat rocks and using shells, skulls, or hollowed stones to heat liquids, no further culinary advances were made. So advancement in cooking techniques made culinary methods improved with the introduction of earthenware and introduction of pottery during Neolithic Period . The cooking techniques of boiling, stewing, braising, and perhaps even incipient forms of pickling, frying, and oven baking were added. Early cooks...show more content...
