  2. 2. WHAT IS HONESTY????  Honesty refers to a facet of moral character and connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straight forwardness, including straight forwardness of conduct, along with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc.
  3. 3. ORIGIN  Honesty is valued in many ethnic and religious cultures. "Honesty is the best policy" is proverb of Benjamin Franklin; however, the quote "Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom" is attributed to Thomas Jefferson, as used in a letter to Nathaniel Macon.
  4. 4. QUOTES  Treat those who are good with goodness, and also treat those who are not good with goodness. Thus goodness is attained. Be honest to those who are honest, and be also honest to those who are not honest. Thus honesty is attained.
  5. 5.  Honesty is the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist.
  6. 6.  Honesty is the rarest wealth anyone can possess, and yet all the honesty in the world ain't lawful tender for a loaf of bread.
  7. 7. STORIES  A milkman became very wealthy through dishonest means. He had to cross a river daily to reach the city where his customers lived. He mixed the water of the river generously with the milk that he sold for a good profit. One day he went around collecting the dues in order to celebrate the wedding of his son. With the large amount thus collected he purchased plenty of rich clothes and glittering gold ornaments. But while crossing the river the boat capsized and all his costly purchases were swallowed by the river. The milk vendor was speechless with grief. At that time he heard a voice that came from the river, “Do not weep. What you have lost is only the illicit gains you earned through cheating your customers. MORAL : Honest dealings are always supreme. Money earned by wrong methods will never remain for ever.
  8. 8. STORIES  Once there was a poor boy in a town, his father had died. He had a widow mother and three younger sisters. there was no source of income to support them. He tried much to get a job but in vain. One day he was walking On road. He saw a Money bag lying beside. He picked and opened it. There was a huge amount of rupees 1 Lac in the purse and address card was also there in the purse. He went to his mother and told her the fact. Here mother strictly ordered him to give the purse to the owner at his address. The boy reached before the owner of he purse and handed over it to him. The owner was a big mill owner. He was very glad and thankful to see the honesty of the boy. The mill Owner asked him as to where he is was working , The boy told the whole story of problem. The rich man was too much impressed and gave him a good job in his factory. Thus the poor boy got the reward of his honesty and passed happy days of life
  9. 9. WHY YOU LIE Lies to make ourselves look better We lie to peers Lies that avoid embarrassment We lie to authoritative figures
  10. 10. HOW TO BE HONEST Anticipate behaviors that will make you feel guilty. Stop comparing yourself to others. Accept the consequence and decide to face them. Do things that make you feel pride. Avoid situations in which you'll have to lie for others. Always exercise tact.
