This proposal analyzes Robert Frost's poems from a phenomenological psychological perspective to understand how self-impression develops in his works. The study will analyze structural elements of Frost's poems and apply a phenomenological analysis. Previous related research on Frost from Muhammadiyah University and Sebelas Maret University is reviewed. The proposal outlines the problem, objectives, benefits, theoretical approach, research method, and bibliography to guide the analysis of self-impression in Frost's poems.

Background of the Study Self impression (also called self-concept or self-construction or self-perspective) is a multi-dimensional construct that refers to an individual's perception of "self" in relation to any number of characteristics, such as academics (and nonacademics), gender roles and sexuality, racial identity, and many others. According to Wellek and Warren (1956: 94), “literature represents ‘life’ and ‘life’ is, in large measure, a social reality, even though the natural world and inner subjective world of individual have also been objects of literary imitation. Robert Frost (1874 – 1963) was born in San Francisco March 26, 1874, the first child of Issabelle Moodie and William Prescott Frost Jr. Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its apparent meaning

Literature Review In psychological analyzed of the robert poems,the researcher result of the other research about analysis of robert frost poems Firstly the researcher know in Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta there is researcher analyzing about robert frost work. She is Eko Cahyaning Utami (2003) with the title Banal Realities in Robert Frost poems : An Existensial Perspective. Secondly the researcher find in Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta. That research also presenting about robert frost poems . Has been conducted by Yuli Windriati (1999) with the title A Study on Robert frost’s work as anti-Romantics Poems (A Literary History Study)

5. Limitation of the Study The problem is limited to the characteristics of fully functioning person in phenomenological psychology that deals with robert frost poems.
6. Objective of the Study To Analyze the structural elements of Robert Frost poems. To Analyze the poems based on the phenomenological psychological perspective.
7. Benefit of the Study Theoretical Benefit This study is expected to contribute to the larger body of knowledge Practical Benefit To improve the researcher understanding about literature,especially in analyzing Robert Frost poems related to psychology.
