Research Objective
To describe the characteristics knee OA patients in
Orthopaedic Polyclinic in Hasan Sadikin Hospital
Bandung.
5. Theoretical aspect
Provide reader and author an insight about the
characteristics of knee OA patient, the risk factors
involved and their frequency.
Practical aspect
Community can avoid exposure to risk
factor, hence reduce incidence of knee OA. Doctor
can advice knee OA patient to reduce or limit
exposure to risk factor and lessen the progression
and worsening of knee OA.
7. Type of Research
Descriptive study using medical record of knee OA
patient at the Orthopaedic Polyclinic in Hasan
Sadikin Hospital Bandung from January-December
2011.
Location and Time
The data (medical record) will be collected from
Orthopaedic Polyclinic in Hasan Sadikin Hospital
Bandung, from the time period of April-May 2013.
8. The population all OA patients from Orthopaedic
Polyclinic in Hasan Sadikin Hospital Bandung.
The sample method total sampling method.
The samples knee OA patients treated in the
Orthopaedic Polyclinic in Hasan Sadikin Hospital
Bandung.
9. Age: < 45 and ≥ 45 years old
Gender: male/female
Body mass index (BMI):
underweight : ≤18.5
normoweight : 18.5-24.9
overweight : 25–29.9
obesity : ≥30
Genetic: family history of OA at any joint?
Previous knee joint injury needed to be treated or any
knee joint deformity?
Contact sports participation?
10. Medical record of patient with knee OA collected
Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Data taken from medical record and if it’s
inadequate, phone calls will be make to patients to
gather more information.
Data recorded according to the variables and the
information needed.
Classified accordingly to risk factor and their
frequency in knee OA patient.
