Students at PUMS Madhapur school in Pongalur Union, Tirupur District of India identified two problems - waste food being left near the water tank making the area unsanitary, and waste paper being discarded. To address the paper waste, the students collected waste paper, soaked and ground it into pulp. They then molded the pulp, dried it in the sun and dyed it using natural colors like beetroot juice. They produced handmade paper bins to contain the waste food. The students shared their work with other schools and officials and thanked Design for Change and their school for supporting their project.
