2. ConneXion 2010
ConneXion is an annual event organized by PGPX students at IIMA to drive industry
interaction with academia. It is a platform to bring together eminent personalities,
thought leaders and policy makers to debate contemporary issues facing corporate
leaders and public policy makers.
This year ConneXion will be held from Oct 22nd to Oct 24th 2010. The theme of ConneXion
2010 is Management Challenges for Emerging Opportunities. The event will mobilize
innovative ideas in the domains of inclusive growth, green technologies, challenges
faced by young innovative leaders and the challenges for marketing innovations. The
industry leaders and prominent speakers will present their point of views on these
issues as well as critique the ideas presented by students. The participants of the event
will also learn from the innovations taking place in different sectors of Indian economy.
Former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, will inaugurate ConneXion 2010 on 22nd
Oct. Day 1 of the conference will focus on Innovations for Inclusive Growth. The Day 2
speakers will discuss the Green Technology Innovations. The last day of conference will
focus on the Marketing Innovations.
About PGPX
PGPX at IIM, Ahmedabad is One Year Post-Graduate Programme In Management For Executives. It is a full-time
residential program for executives with substantial work experience. PGPX is a get-ready-for-top-management
course wherein the sharpest minds make it to the consideration. PGPX is tailored to take cognizance of every
student’s rich real-life industry experience. The programme develops bright, enthusiastic and aspirational ex-
ecutives into management leaders and change agents for the global arena. PGPX has a general management
focus, with emphasis on global management and cross-cultural skills. PGPX was started in 2006. The current
class of PGPX 2010-11 is the 5th batch.
Post PGPX, students have joined in senior management roles such as GM, VP, AVP and Functional Heads. Sev-
eral growing SMEs have benefited by recruiting PGPX graduates for executive roles of COO, CEO, Head of IT
and various VP positions in Sales, Operations and Strategy.
Batch Profile: PGPX V (2010-11)
The current PGPX batch of 86 students has a diverse set of executives from various industries such as FMCG,
Financial Services, Government Services, Hospitality Services, IT & IT Services, Management Consultancy, Man-
ufacturing, Engineering & Process, Projects Design & Construction, Shipping, Telecom, Healthcare, Pharmacy,
BPO and many more.
With an average GMAT of 712, PGPX has one of the highest average GMAT scores across the globe. The average
work experience of the batch is 10+ years with an average international experience of 4.4 years.
While 92% of the PGPX V students have international experience, 42% of the students have returned to India
from across the globe for joining PGPX.

4. Activities During ConneXion
TVIG - The Voices of Inclusive Growth
During the ConneXion event, PGPX students will introduce grass-root innovators and
present their innovations to the distinguished audience.
PGPX students have created a forum to promote grass-root innovators identified through
organizations such as National Innovation Foundation. The objective of this initiative is
to help the identified innovators to build business capabilities and to provide them
managerial support. With a passion to encourage inclusive growth, PGPX students aim
to achieve commercialization of these identified innovations. The PGPX Students strongly
believe that such an effort can be catalytic in promoting innovation at the grass-root level.
IIMA 5K Run
PGPX have a tradition of participating in
Mumbai marathon. Starting this year, PGPX
takes a step ahead with the introduction of
IIMA 5K run. The 5K run event symbolizes
the family environment at IIMA wherein not
only the students (PGP, PGPX and FPM) but
also the faculty, the staff and their families
will join the run. The running route is
spread across the sprawling IIMA campus
including both the old and new campuses,
connected by the IIMA Tunnel. The runners
will compete for the titles of “The Men’s 5K Champion” and “The Women’s 5K Champion.”
The time & venue for the run is 21st Oct 2010 5.00 pm @ IIMA campus. We extend the
invitation to the dignitaries and alumni in joining the first IIMA 5K Run.
