DEVELOPMENTAL READING 1
Mary Lhiezel P. Vibar
Learning Task 4
1. Make your own list of tips in overcoming the obstacles in reading.
Give them time…
Parents must set time for their children in reading. It is important for the children
to have routine in studying, especially in reading so that they will be able to set
their mind and be ready in reading.
Motivate them.
It is important for the children to be motivated, so that they will be eager to read.
Giving them rewards when they have done reading will give them
encouragement.
Reading is fun.
Choose a topic that will make them read. For example, for girls, they want to read
fairytales like Cinderella. Aside from that, they will also get excited while sharing
fun in reading.
2. Give at least 3 activities that can enhance the selective reading skills of your students.
Story telling- getting the gist of what happened in the story

Learning Task 5
1. Define reading comprehension in your own words.
Reading is not only reading words. In reading, set this in mind: what do I read?
What am I reading about? Without comprehension, reading is nothing. Reading
comprehension helps us to recognize, understand, know the spelling and also
enhances the vocabulary.
2. How does reading comprehension affect your daily life?
Reading comprehension affects my daily life so much. I can commute and go
wherever I want. I can classify food if it is healthy or not. I can use different
things. I can do all of those because of my reading comprehension.
3. List down at least 3 techniques or strategies that will help to better understand the text
we read.
Using context clues
Using synonyms and antonyms
Using the graphic organizers
4. How does reading comprehension affect the learning process?
Reading is the best way for us to enhance our vocabulary and recognize different
words to know what those different words mean and that is what we called
comprehension. Once you have fun in reading, you will learn so much and it
broadens your vocabulary and understand it and we can compare and know the
meaning of those.
