NoBusService We Need Good News
There are a lot of news outlets in the world, but it seems most of them are limited on good
news.
When suffering takes place, there is a time for mourning.
“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep” (Romans 12:15).
So, while many weep today, is it right to discuss good news? Absolutely - because of the nature
of this Good News. Paul defines it this way:
The Good News we proclaim takes the bad, evil, and painful news of death with the finality of
burial and converts it to life! It turns around the sorrow and weeping, transforming it to rejoic-
ing! Therefore, the Good news we proclaim must never be silenced. It will always be relevant.
It will forever be vital for all to follow.
As a result of sharing this Good News, it will refresh the bones and restore the hearts of those
who hear it.
“The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.” Proverbs 15:30
As a result of sharing this Good News, it will quench the thirsty souls who long for peace.
“Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country” Proverbs 25:25
It is water that allows us to access this water.

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the Good News I preached to you, which you
received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to
the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of
first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with
the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance
with the Scriptures” (1 Cor 15:1-3).
“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were
baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in
order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too
might walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:3-4).

FOUR WISE THINGS Part 2
As we continue our study of learn-
ing from the ant the need of preparing for
the future consider the warning that came
from the prophet Amos to the northern king-
dom of Israel. Amos commanded them to “Prepare to meet
your God, O Israel!” (Amos 4:12). Amos had prophesied
of the coming captivity of Israel in Assyria. God had tried so
many things to persuade Israel to repent but without suc-
cess. Now judgment is coming and because it is coming,
Israel needs to prepare to meet her God. Today we know
that there is a judgment coming in which the whole world
will be called before God and we will have to give an ac-
count for how we have lived. Therefore, we have to prepare
to meet out God. Again, in regard to this coming judgment,
consider the following passages from God’s word. First, the
apostle Peter wrote in his second general epistle,
“Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved,
what manner of persons ought you to be in holy con-
duct and godliness” (2 Pet. 3:11). In commenting on this
passage brother Guy N. Woods said, “In view of the transi-
tory nature of the world and all that belongs to it, children of
God should cease their concern about it and fix their atten-
tion on those matters that are eternal.” Secondly, the apos-
tle Paul wrote to the church at Corinth reminding them that
“we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ,
that each one may receive the things done in the body,
according to what he has done, whether good or
bad” (2 Cor. 5:10). Understanding that in that day our judg-
ment will be based upon whether we have chosen to live a
life of godliness or a life of sin ought to prompt all of us to
prepare for that even by obeying God now that all of the bad
might be forgiven by God and thus forgotten by Him (cf.
Heb. 8:12).
Secondly we are given the example of the coney
which teaches us the need to depend upon one stronger
than ourselves. The coney is a rabbit like creature. He has
numerous enemies that would seek to destroy and devour
him. Yet he is a weak creature unable to fend off the attack
of his enemies. But he is wise enough to understand that
and to therefore rely upon a strength great than his own. In
Proverbs 30:26 we are told, “The conies are but a feeble
folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks.”
Man left alone is unable to defend himself against
his enemies. Israel too often depended upon Egypt, Assyria
or some other nation that could not help them. Israel
needed to learn, as do we, that God alone is the strength
upon which we need to depend. When David was delivered
from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul,
he sang this song of praise to God: And he said: "The
LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; 3
The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield
and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my
refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence” (2 Sam.
22:2, 3).
Man’s greatest enemy is Satan. And Peter warns
us of him saying, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your
adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion,
seeking whom he may devour” (2 Pet. 5:8).
