Once more it is with pleasure that I was given
the opportunity to work on the next edition of
the newsletter. As we all know that a newsletter
mirrors a school -it's vision and mission. I take
this platform to voice my opinion on remaining
dedicated and consistent students,imbibing the
values laid down by the institution. You all need
to be a winner and to emerge as one you need
to grill yourself taking all the pressures of life.
So work upon your weaknesses and success will
come rolling down your kitty. Signing off with
this quotation
"Woods are lovely dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep”
From Principal’s Desk
Tomorrow is a new beginning, new school
year, new friends and new memories!
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome dear students
and parents to the new academic session (2017-2018).
The last session ended on a high note with the successful
showcasing of our curricular and co-curricular achievements.
We plan to commence the new session on a high note too.
We will open the new book. Its pages are blank. We are going
to put words on them ourselves. The book is called
Opportunity and its first chapter is New academic session. To
the returning students, my message is never to take your
academics for granted. The era of believing that there is a
short-cut to success is gone. Work hard and never take your
studies for granted for any reason. Mind the company you
k e e p , m a n a g e y o u r m e a g e r r e s o u r c e s
prudently and apply wisdom in all that you do.
Wish you a successful year ahead.
Honda CRF 50 Carnival was organised by the school in collaboration with
Honda Road Safety Training Programme on April 13, 2017 for classes IV
and V. This venture aimed at making the Indian roads safer to drive and to
inculcate the practice of following traffic rules in children. The programme
was inaugurated by the Vice Principal, Ms. Mena Mittle. The students
shortlisted after the written questionnaire were given an opportunity to
ride the junior bikes while the others had a brain storming Quiz session.
The carnival with a motive Every journey starts with the first step thrilled
the students and they participated with great zeal and enthusiasm. The
proficient riders were felicitated with trophies and certificates
A cleanliness drive and Tree plantation
drive was carried out by the students of classes pre-
school and Pre-Primary. The other events included Show and Tell for
class I, Best out of Waste, Card Making, Folder designing and Poster
Making for classes II, III, V and IX respectively. The students of
class V decorated their class bulletin boards to spread awareness
about nature and environment.
Class X students expressed their linguistic skills by writing a thought
provoking essay on Work for today, Preserve tomorrow.
It was a great day to showcase environmental education and engage
the whole student community in making a difference by promoting a
better and healthier life by being environment friendly and forging a
bond with nature.
Under the aegis of AFS (American Field Service) that promotes
inter-cultural exchange programme around the globe; our school
hosted Emily Zanardo from Italy for a period of ten months.
Emily described her memorable experience through a marvelous
presentation and eloquent words during the morning assembly
that expressed the varied culture of India. She depicted her travel-
ing experiences of visiting Shimla, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kerala
and many other places with the host families. The girl conveyed
her gratitude towards Madam Principal, the host families, her
friends and the entire MPS fraternity for the love and affection she
received throughout her stay.
The school celebrated International Labour Day on May 1, 2017 by
treating the support staff of the school with refreshing sherbet and
delicious sprouts chaat prepared by our students, as token of affection
and respect they deserve. The school fraternity expressed its gratitude
to as equally significant strata of employees as any other, for their
implausible contribution in the growth and development of the school
over the years. It was indeed a delightful sight to observe smiles on
their faces.
Creative Connections, the business enterprise of MPS,
celebrated World Red Cross Day and distributed handy
first aid kits to the poor in slums, rickshaw
pullers, labourers, drivers and the underprivileged
children of Nav Chetna,Sarthak Prayas(NGO).
It sensitized them towards their health and safety to which
they usually remain ignorant.
A special assembly was organized to celebrate the festival of Baisakhi with
zest and zeal. A cultural programme was presented on the occasion wherein the
students were apprised with the importance of the harvest festival i.e. Baisakhi.
The school premises wore a festive look with vibrant hues of folksong and
bhangra performance.
Open day is a platform not only for interaction amongst parents but also a
favoured time for other events. We, at Modern Public School, believe in the
holistic development of students so a plethora of activities were organized on
April 29, 2017. In an endeavour to educate parents and students on the
significance of driving safely a Road Safety Awareness Drive was organized
in the school premises. Everyone signed a road safety pledge. Business
flourished through Creative Connections team where bhelpuri and lemonade
was sold to parents and children. Furthermore, a Book Fair was also
organized for the students to get acquainted to different genres of books. Last
but not the least, Emptor Club spread awareness on eating fruits and benefits
of banana peel. The entire day was filled with cheers and gaiety.
The event was presided over by Lieutenant General D. V. Kalra and
witnessed by other dignitaries, Mr. K.L Sobti, revered Chairman of the
School and the honourable Principal, Ms. Alka Kapur. The auspicious
ceremony commenced with the musical rendition by the school choir,
followed by a scintillating dance performance. The Chief Guest handed
over the appointment letters to the office bearers and emphasized on
the importance of discipline and developing the qualities of leadership
in themselves. The Investiture Ceremony culminated with lots of hopes
and aspirations for our future leaders. It was a moment of pride and of
humbleness, of authority with accountability and above all service.
TODDLER’S
TREND
A mathematical role play on the theme Great Mathematicians was organized on
May 16, 2017 under the International School Award programme. The students of
Class VI revered the great historic mathematicians by imitating them on the stage.
The contributions of Ramanujan, Pythagoras, Descartes, Brahmagupta, Gauss,
Pascal and many other eminent mathematicians were highlighted through breath-
taking enactments by the young actors. It was indeed an informative and mesmer-
izing event as it apprised the spectators with pivotal role of several genius minds
that to which the history would remain indebted.
A book is a gift you can open again and again.
On May 8, 2017 an English recitation competition was
organised for the students of class 2 on the topic
BOOKS: HOUSE OF GOLD. The children participated
enthusiastically by showcasing their talent in voice modulation
expression and pronunciation.
A mother is your first friend , best friend and your friend
forever.
To honour the mothers of preschoolers, an appealing func-
tion was organised in the premises of the school on 11 and
12 May 2017. The mothers were treated to wonderful
performances of songs and dances highlighting the roles
played by them. Lots of activities were held where the moth-
ers were made to participate in order to make them feel as
if their childhood has retreated .
