2. WHAT'S THE CONCEPT
The concept of the music video is very similar to the plot of the movie 28 days later, in this video two
characters wake up in a hospital only to find that the world is over run by zombies. However these are no
ordinary zombies, they are all shuffler. As the video progresses we see the two character being turned into
zombies and take over all of the zombies making them all shuffle in time and even having shuffle-offs.
3. CAMERA
In the video we see a wide variety of shots, we see quite a few close ups, medium shots and even long
shots of everything that’s happening. This is to make the video look interesting and appeling to the
audience. As well as this helps to understand what the characters are like before and after they turn into
shuffling zombies.
4. SOUND
The sound of the music video is quite delayed, this is due to the fact that that the video has and
introductory sequence which explains the events which have take place, the actual music starts at 1.27
mins. The music sound very typical dance pop, which is a type of music which is easy to dance to.
5. MISE-EN-SCENE
The Mise-en-scene in this music video is quite nostalgic to me, this is due to the setting and some of the
props used for the music video, its very similar to the setting used in 28 days later, however the lighting is a
bit more colourful, this could be due to the costumes used by all characters in the video. In this video we
also see a lot of advertisement ranging from doctor Dre’s earphones to a type of soda brand, we can tell
that the two characters at the beginning are the main characters, this is due to the way that they dress
which is more eye catching than the rest of the characters, “redfoo’s” leopard jacket is extremely eye
catching while “Sky blu” has quite a simplistic coloured jacket of black and red which in comparison to the
rest of the characters that all wear colourful jackets we can remember with ease.
6. EDITING
The editing is quite simplistic as it follows the rhythm of the music, and the rhythm of the dancing
characters. There’s also an element of cross cutting in which we can see one scene rapidly changing with a
fast pace of editing.
7. INTERTEXTUAL REFERENCE
In this music video we see quite a big intertextual reference which is literally shoved in your face, the
comparison that this music video makes is to 28 days later the movie that is about a virus breaking out and
turning everybody into zombies, similarly the video instead of it being a virus is a song, furthermore this
video is one of Sven Carlssons modern mythic embodiment in this case it’s the televised bard which tells a
story with visual means.
