I can animate was used to draw still frames for the animatic, which were then imported into iMovie HD to create the animatic timeline. Some difficulties arose in adding more frames, which were overcome by screenshotting. Filming taught useful skills like changing lenses. Final Cut Pro was used for most editing, including adding effects like fading. After Effects created titles that popped up during scenes. Non-copyright music was downloaded from YouTube for the soundtrack.

Creating an Animatic and Editing Opening Sequence
1.
2. I can animate
I can animate is a a mac software that we used in
order to start off making our animatic, We drew a
number images on this program, one for each of the
different shots that we have in our opening sequence
‘Shortage’.
After doing this we would transfer these still pictures
to iMovie HD and finish the animatic from there.
I did not like using I can animate, I believe it would
have been allot easier to simply draw these frames on
‘paint’ and then transfer them onto iMovie Hd.
3. iMovie HD
When we brought the images onto iMovie HD we started to put the
pictures onto the timeline, We had to put them in order of each scene
in are opening sequence, also we had to make sure it was the same
length.
We had a few difficulties while making are animatic, firstly we
realized we had not drawn all the shots down and had to add more,
but we could figure out how to add more ‘I can animate’ still frames
to iMovie without opening a new ‘iMovie’ page. Finally with over
come this problem by screen shooting the still frames and dragging
the onto ‘IMovie’.
4. Filming
While filming we learnt quite a few features/technologies
about the video camera itself.
One useful thing we didn't’t know before is that you can
change the lens on the camera to create different effects, for
example putting in a zoom lens if you need a shot from far
away.
5. Final cut pro
Final cut pro was the mac software that was most used though out the
whole of our ‘Shortage’ coursework.
After filming, we uploaded are clips onto final cut pro and from there
all of are editing for the opening sequence was done on this software.
Throughout this editing process we learnt allot of new things about
final cut pro, We learnt how to add special effects, we used these to
switch from one scene to another for example, we used fading quite a
few times.
6. After effects
After effect was the program that we used to make the titles for our
opening sequence.
We learnt how to not just have titles on a black screen come up on our
opening sequence but we learnt how to make the title pop-up while a
scene of our sequence was playing. We were quite happy with this as
we did not have to to cut down are sequence to add in the titles.
7. Music
One thing we had to learn do to while constructing are project was
find or make a non copyright instrumental to use in are production.
Fortunately our friend knew someone who was happy to let us use his
instrumentals so all we had to do was download these from YouTube
and then upload onto final cut pro.
