Present perfect: Form
   It uses the auxiliary HAVE / HAS and the past
    participle


Examples:
 I have finished my work
 She has been to China
 Have you seen my pen?
Regular and irregular verbs
 Regular verbs

The past participle is formed by adding –ed
Examples: I have played
           She has watched
           They have arrived

 Irregular verbs
 3rd column of the irregular verb list

  See saw seen               I have seen my sister
  Eat ate eaten              She’s already eaten
  Put put put                I’ve just put on the tv
  Read read read             I haven’t read the book yet

Long and short forms

 Examples

 We have just solved the problem
 We’ve just solved the problem

 She has eaten rice at school
 She’s eaten rice at school

 They have been married for five years
 They’ve been married for five years
Present perfect. Uses
    Action starts in                           Has importance

 I’ve collected lots of souvenirs The action started in the past and still
 (I’m still collecting now)       continues in the present
 Fame hasn’t changed Messi
 (He’s still the same person)

I’ve visited Europe                     Past experience. We don’t know when. It
                                      is not a specific time in the past.


He’s never travelled by train         An experience that has or hasn’t happened.

Ever and never
            We can use ever in  questions. It
             means ‘at a time in your life?’

         Have you ever driven more than 100 km?
         Has your best friend ever disappointed
           you?
         .



        We use never in affirmative sentences. It
        means ‘at no time in your life’.

        He’s never forgotten his family
        I’ve never been good at running
