The Power of the Blood we follow the Scarlet Thread, the Crimson Flow who the scriptures of the Holy Bible AV 1611 as they trace the blood sacrifice from Genesis through to Revelation. Modern English versions and even modern theological teaching tends to downgrade the power of the blood and focus only on the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God.

The Power of Blood in Scripture
1.
2.  Modern Bibles today tend to diminish the
power of the blood
 Many modern “scribes” suggest that the blood
was merely a man’s blood and that the focus is
on the death not the blood
 The Holy Bible, AV 1611, there is true witness
to the power of the blood from beginning to
end
4.  Hebrews 9:7 But into the second went the high
priest alone once every year, not without
blood, which he offered for himself, and for the
errors of the people:
5.  Hebrews 9:18 Whereupon neither the first
testament was dedicated without blood.
6.  The importance of treating the Bible as a
whole.
 The whole Bible reveals to us what is actually
the HEART OF GOD.
7.  we begin to discover what the foundation
truths of the Bible are and what should
demand our attention.
 By looking at the whole Bible we find what
remains unchanged in spite of any
dispensational changes.
8.  the GLORIOUS POWER OF THE BLOOD OF
JESUS
 and the wonderful blessings that this blood
has brought us.
9.  THE BLOOD IS THE POWER OF
REDEMPTION and you will see this as we
follow through the Bible from the beginning to
the end of God’s revelation of Himself to man
as recorded in the Bible.
10.  Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the
blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar
to make an atonement for your souls: for it is
the blood that maketh an atonement for the
soul.
11.  that there is no scriptural idea from Genesis to
Revelations more consistently and
prominently kept before us than the words
“THE BLOOD.”
12.  A Fountain Opened to the House of David
 a fountain filled with blood drawn from
Emanuel’s veins
 Zechariah 13:1 In that day there shall be a
fountain opened to the house of David and to
the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for
uncleanness.
13.  teach us about THE BLOOD
 1 In the Old Testament
 2 In the Teachings of Jesus Christ Himself
 3 in what the Apostles Teach
 4 in what the Revelation Teaches
14.  THE BLOOD begins right at Eden
 The first covering that God makes for man is
not by vegetation but by the shedding of blood
to provide a sheepskin.
 BLOOD IS SHED
15.  BLOOD is the centre of the first act of true
worship
 Abel brings the lambs of his flock to the Lord
as a sacrifice and this is the first act of
acceptable worship recorded in the Bible.
16.  In this first act of true worship blood is
initiated:
 Genesis 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the
firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.
And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to
his offering:
17.  By faith Abel offered unto God a more
excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he
obtained witness that he was righteous, God
testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead
yet speaketh.
18.  By faith Abel offers an acceptable sacrifice
 and the Bible calls him a believer.
 He has the record that he “pleased God.”
 His faith and God’s good pleasure in him are
connected with the SHEDDING OF BLOOD in
sacrifice of the lamb.
19.  This sets the foundation that will be seen over
and over again from the beginning of the
history of mankind throughout the scriptures.
 The deep significance that there can be no
approach to God, no fellowship with him by
faith, no enjoyment of his favour, apart from
THE BLOOD.
20.  and we come to The Flood, which was God’s
judgement on sin by the destruction of the
world of mankind.
21.  from that awful baptism of water.
 Also note that although born out of the
baptism of water there has to be a baptism
with blood.
 the first recorded act of Noah, after he had left
the Ark, was the offering of a burnt sacrifice to
God.
22.  As with Abel, so with Noah at a new
beginning, it was “NOT WITHOUT BLOOD.”
23.  and God laid an entirely new foundation with
the establishment of his kingdom on earth but
it is still established with the SHEDDING OF
BLOOD in a sacrifice made by faith.
24.  and in the miraculous birth of Isaac, God
undertook to form a people to serve him.
 But this purpose is not brought about apart
from the shedding of THE BLOOD.
 This is seen in the most trying hour of
Abraham’s life.
25.  God had already entered into a covenant
relationship with Abraham .
 His faith had already been severely tried and
had stood the test.
 It was reckoned or counted unto him for
righteousness.
26.  the son of promise, who belonged wholly to
God can be truly surrendered to God only by
death – by the SHEDDING OF BLOOD.
27.  For Abraham, as well as for Isaac, only by
death could freedom from the self life be
gained.
28.  Abraham must offer Isaac on the altar and be
prepared to SHED BLOOD.
 This is the revelation of the Divine truth.
 That it is only through death that a life can be
truly consecrated to God.
29.  and the SHEDDING OF BLOOD
 But you can see that his life was spared and a
ram was offered in his place.
30.  Through the blood that then flowed on Mount
Moriah his life is spared.
 He and the people which sprang from him live
before God “NOT WITHOUT BLOOD.”
31.  he was in a figure raised again from the dead.
 The great lesson substitution is here clearly
taught yet again.
32.  and Isaac has become, in Egypt, the people of
Israel.
 Through deliverance from Egyptian bondage
Israel was to be recognised as God’s firstborn
among the nations.
33.  Neither the electing grace of God, nor his
covenant with Abraham, nor the exercise of his
power, which could so easily have destroyed
their oppressors, could do away with the
necessity of THE BLOOD.
34.  What THE BLOOD accomplished in Mount
Moriah for one person, who was the father of
the nation, must now be experienced by that
very nation.
 By the sprinkling of the door frames of the
Israelites with the BLOOD of the Passover
Lamb.
35.  as an enduring ordinance was with the words
“when I see the BLOOD I will pass over you.”
 The people were taught that life can be
obtained only by the death of the substitute.
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
36.  Life was possible for them only through THE
BLOOD of life given in their place and
appropriated by the sprinkling of that blood.
37.  50 days later this lesson was reinforced
 Israel had reached Mount Sinai.
 God had given His Law as the foundation of
his Covenant.
 This covenant must now be established, but as
it is expressly stated in
38.  But into the second went the high priest alone
once every year, not without blood, which he
offered for himself, and for the errors of the
people:
39.  the sacrificial BLOOD must be sprinkled, first
on the altar, and then on the book of the
covenant, representing God’s side of that
covenant; then on the people, with the
declaration, “this is THE BLOOD OF THE
COVENANT.
40.  And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD,
and rose up early in the morning, and builded
an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars,
according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And
he sent young men of the children of Israel,
which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed
peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.
41.  6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it
in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on
the altar. 7 And he took the book of the
covenant, and read in the audience of the
people: and they said, All that the LORD hath
said will we do, and be obedient.
42.  8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it
on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the
covenant, which the LORD hath made with
you concerning all these words.
43.  the Covenant had its foundation and power.
 It is by THE BLOOD alone, that God and man
can be brought into covenant Fellowship.
44.  in Eden, on Mount Ararat, on Mount Moriah
and in Egypt was now confirmed at the foot of
Mount Sinai in a most solemn manner.
 Without BLOOD THERE COULD BE NO
ACCESS BY SINFUL MAN TO A HOLY GOD.
45.  the manner of applying the blood in the former
cases as compared with this.
 At Moriah the life was redeemed by the shedding
of the blood.
 In Egypt it was sprinkled on the doorposts of the
houses; but in Mount Saini it was sprinkled on the
people themselves.
 The contact was closer, the application all-
powerful.
46.  Immediately after the establishment of the
covenant the command was given “let them
make me a sanctuary that I may dwell among
them”
 Exodus 25:8 And let them make me a
sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
47.  They were to enjoy the full blessedness of
having the God of the covenant abiding among
them.
 Through his grace they may find him and serve
him in his house.
48.  He, himself, gave, with the minutest care,
directions for the arrangement and service of
that house.
 But notice that THE BLOOD is at the centre
and the reason of all this.
 Let’s look at our Heavenly King and his
earthly temple for a moment.
49.  ALTAR OF BURNT OFFERING where the
sprinkling of blood continues, without ceasing,
from morning till evening.
50.  and the most conspicuous thing is the golden
altar of incense, which also, together with the
veil, are constantly sprinkled with the
BLOOD.
51.  Ask about what lies beyond the Holy Place
and you will find out that it is the MOST
HOLY PLACE where God himself dwells.
 If you ask how he dwells there and how he is
approached you will be told simply “NOT
WITHOUT BLOOD.”
52.  The golden throne where his glory shines is,
itself, sprinkled with THE BLOOD once every
year when the HIGH PRIEST ALONE ENTERS
TO BRING IN THE BLOOD and to worship
God.
 The highest act in that worship is the
sprinkling of THE BLOOD.
53.  If you dig into this a little further you will be
told that always, and for everything, THE
BLOOD is the one thing that is needful.
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
54.  House of Worship, or the Priests: at the birth
of a child, in the deepest sorrow on account of
sin, in the light of the festival, always, and in
everything, the way to fellowship with God is
through THE BLOOD alone.
55.  At Sinai, in the desert, at Shiloh, in the Temple
on Mount Moriah, at Jerusalem, this continued
right up until the Lord Jesus came to make an
end of all shadows by bringing in the
substance, and so establishing a fellowship
with the Holy One in the Spirit of Truth.
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
56.  Modern Bibles today tend to diminish the
power of the blood
 Many modern “scribes” suggest that the blood
was merely a man’s blood and that the focus is
on the death not the blood
 The Holy Bible, AV 1611, there is true witness
to the power of the blood from beginning to
end
58.  WHAT OUR LORD JESUS TEACHES US
ABOUT THE BLOOD
 With his coming all the old things are passed
away and all things become new.
 Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new
covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that
which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to
vanish away.
59.  THE BLOOD, however, does not pass away
because it is not a shadow or an old thing
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
60.  the coming of the Lord Jesus and speaks of him
as filling the double office as “the Lamb of God
that taketh away the sin of the world” and
then as “the one who would baptised with the
Holy Spirit.”
61.  the BLOOD of the Lamb of God is to be poured
out
 This must take place before the outpouring of
the Spirit can happen.
 Only when all that the Old Testament taught
about THE BLOOD has been fulfilled can the
Holy Spirit given.
62.  plainly says that his death on the cross was
the purpose for which he came into the world;
that it was the necessary condition of the
redemption of life which he came to bring.
63.  with his death the shedding of his BLOOD was
totally necessary.
64.  REMEMBER THE LIFE IS IN THE BLOOD
 He speaks of himself as “THE BREAD OF LIFE
of his flesh.
67.  “except ye… Drink this BLOOD ye have no
life in you.”
 John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of
the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have
no life in you.
68.  “He that drinketh my BLOOD HATH
EVERLASTING LIFE.”
 John 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh
my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise
him up at the last day.
69.  “MY BLOOD is drink indeed.”
 John 6:55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my
blood is drink indeed.
70.  “He that drinketh my BLOOD DWELLETH IN
ME AND I IN HIM”
 John 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and
drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in
him.
71.  The fundamental fact that he himself, as the
son of the father, who came to restore to us our
lost life, can do this in no other way than by
dying for us; by shedding his blood for us; and
then making us partakers of its power.
72.  of the Old Testament offerings that man can
live only through the death of another and that
he has obtained a life through resurrection to
immortality.
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
73.  make us partakers of that eternal life which he
has purchased for us, save by the shedding of
his BLOOD, and causing us to drink it.
 Marvellous is the truth! “NOT WITHOUT
BLOOD”
 Only by the Shedding of Blood can eternal life
be ours.
74.  of the same truth on the last night before his death.
 Before he completed the great work of his life by giving
it “is a ransom for many.”
 He instructed, at the Last Supper, saying, “this is the
cup of the New Testament in MY BLOOD that is shed
for you and for many for the remission of sins. Drink
ye all of it.”
 Matthew 26:27-28 And he took the cup, and gave
thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is
shed for many for the remission of sins.
75.  there is no remission of sins.
 This is the REFORMATION
 Hebrews 9:10 Which stood only in meats and
drinks, and divers washings, and carnal
ordinances, imposed on them until the time of
reformation.
76.  Without remission of sins there is no life.
 But by the shedding of his BLOOD he has
obtained a new life for us.
77.  By what he calls “the drinking of his blood.”
 He shares his life with us.
 The blood shed is Atonement, which frees us
from sin, the guilt of sin: and from death, the
punishment of sin; the blood, which by faith
we drink, bestows on us his life.
78.  in the first place, FOR us and is then given TO
us.
 It is evident that the Lord Jesus Christ reveals
the truth about himself:
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
79.  Modern Bibles today tend to diminish the
power of the blood
 Many modern “scribes” suggest that the blood
was merely a man’s blood and that the focus is
on the death not the blood
 The Holy Bible, AV 1611, there is true witness
to the power of the blood from beginning to
end
82.  our Lord is not any longer known by the
Apostles “after the flesh.”
 Now, all that was symbolical has passed
away, and the deep spiritual truths, expressed
by symbols, are unveiled.
83.  But there is no unveiling of THE BLOOD.
 The Blood is not a mere symbol the passes
away
 It still occupies the prominent place.
 It is not a shadow of things to come.
 It is the substance that continues through any
dispensation
84.  which was purposely written to show that the
Temple service had become unprofitable, and
was intended by God to pass away, now that
Christ had come.
85.  Here, if anywhere, it might be expected that the
Holy Spirit would emphasise the true
spirituality of God’s purpose, yet the Blood of
Jesus was spoken of in such a manner that
imparts a new value to the phrase and is not
considered to be symbolic at all.
86.  the old that passed away THE BLOOD
remains in the prominent place of revelation.
87.  he entered into the holy place”
 Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats
and calves, but by his own blood he entered in
once into the holy place, having obtained
eternal redemption for us.
88.  “the blood of Christ which purges your
conscience:
 Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood
of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without spot to God, purge
your conscience from dead works to serve the
living God?
89.  The blood gives us boldness to enter IN:
 Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren,
boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood
of Jesus,
90.  of the New Covenant and the Blood of
Sprinkling:
 Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of
the new covenant, and to the blood of
sprinkling, that speaketh better things than
that of Abel.
91.  by His Own Blood:
 see this for yourself:
92.  For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is
brought into the sanctuary by the high priest
for sin, are burned without the camp. 12
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify
the people with his own blood, suffered
without the gate. 13 Let us go forth therefore
unto him without the camp, bearing his
reproach.
93.  THE BLOOD OF THE EVERLASTING
COVENANT
 Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that
brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great shepherd of the sheep, through the
blood of the everlasting covenant,
94.  By such words the Holy Spirit teaches us that
the BLOOD is really the central power of the
entire redemption.
 The BLOOD powers the REFORMATION
95.  is as valid in the New Testament as in the Old
Testament.
96.  showed in his death for sin, can cover sin on
God’s side or remove sin on ours.
97.  Paul tells us “being justified freely by his
Grace through the redemption that is sin
Christ Jesus…… through faith in HIS
BLOOD”
98.  Being justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom
God hath set forth to be a propitiation through
faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness
for the remission of sins that are past, through
the forbearance of God;
99.  “the cup of blessing which we bless is the
Communion of the BLOOD OF CHRIST”
 1 Corinthians 10:16 The cup of blessing which
we bless, is it not the communion of the blood
of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not
the communion of the body of Christ?
100.  “THE BLOOD OF HIS CROSS” – in which he
unites the BLOOD and the CROSS
 Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace
through the blood of his cross, by him to
reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say,
whether they be things in earth, or things in
heaven.
101.  “I will glory in the CROSS (BLOOD) OF OUR
LORD JESUS CHRIST… By whom the world
is crucified unto me and I unto the world”
 Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should
glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto
me, and I unto the world.
102.  “we have redemption through HIS BLOOD”
 Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption
through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of his grace;
103.  “we are made nigh by THE BLOOD OF
CHRIST”
 Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who
sometimes were far off are made nigh by the
blood of Christ.
104.  “Elect….Unto obedience and sprinkling of the
BLOOD OF JESUS”
 1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the
foreknowledge of God the Father, through
sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and
sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace
unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
105.  we are redeemed “by the precious BLOOD OF
CHRIST”
 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye
were not redeemed with corruptible things, as
silver and gold, from your vain conversation
received by tradition from your fathers; 19
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a
lamb without blemish and without spot:
106.  “little children…….THE BLOOD OF JESUS
CHRIST his Son cleanseth us from all sin”
 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is
in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son
cleanseth us from all sin.
107.  the Son is He “who came not by water only but
by water and BLOOD”
 1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and
blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only,
but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit
that beareth witness, because the Spirit is
truth.
108.  they all make mention of the BLOOD and they
glory in it as the power by which eternal
redemption through Jesus is fully accomplished
and then applied by the Holy Spirit.
109.  The sum total of the Apostles teaching is:
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
110.  Modern Bibles today tend to diminish the
power of the blood
 Many modern “scribes” suggest that the blood
was merely a man’s blood and that the focus is
on the death not the blood
 The Holy Bible, AV 1611, there is true witness
to the power of the blood from beginning to
end
113.  THE BLOOD still reta this ins its prominent
place
 God gives preeminence to THE BLOOD in this
book about the revelation of the glory of God’s
throne and or the blessedness of those around
it.
114.  John sees on the throne itself “a Lamb as it had
been slain”
 Revelation 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the
midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and
in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it
had been slain, having seven horns and seven
eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent
forth into all the earth.
115.  as they fall down before the Slain Lamb:
 “thou art worthy….for thou wast slain and
hast redeemed us to God by THY BLOOD”
116.  And when he had taken the book, the four beasts
and four and twenty elders fell down before the
Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden
vials full of odours, which are the prayers of
saints. 9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou
art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals
thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us
to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and
tongue, and people, and nation;
117.  a great company which no man can number:
who are these?:
 “They have washed their robes, and made them
white in the BLOOD OF THE LAMB.”
118.  Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou
knowest. And he said to me, These are they
which came out of great tribulation, and have
washed their robes, and made them white in
the blood of the Lamb.
119.  The song of victory over the defeat of Saint:
“they overcame him by the BLOOD OF THE
LAMB”
 Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by
the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their
testimony; and they loved not their lives unto
the death.
120.  the great purposes of God; the wonderful love
of the Son of God; the power of his redemption;
the joy and thanksgiving of the redeemed
 are all expressed within “THE BLOOD OF
THE LAMB”
121.  his garments washed in wine, his clothes and
the blood of grapes
122.  Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand
shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children
shall bow down before thee. 9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from
the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he
couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him
up? 10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a
lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto
him shall the gathering of the people be. 11 Binding his
foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he
washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of
grapes: 12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth
white with milk.
123.  from the Beginning to the End of Scripture
 from the Garden of Eden to the Estate of
Heaven’s Zion
 The Old Testament the New Testament: the old
covenant the new covenant
 Runs this scarlet thread, this crimson flow,
through the scriptures
124.  THE BLOOD unites the beginning and the end
 THE BLOOD restores what sin had destroyed
 and so we can come unto God but
 NOT WITHOUT BLOOD
