The school age program is a partial hospital program starting at age 5 ½ to 12. The kids are referred to this program from their home school counselors, neighbors, and family. The focus is on behavior management through counseling.
If a student arrives early in the morning, a parent or guardian must be present. They are to check in with the front desk, who will call their teacher to pick them up. If a student is leaving early, they are to bring in a note or call their treatment coordinator (T.C.) notifying staff of their early departure. This is due to the fact that their attendance is a crucial part of their treatment. 10 absences are allowed.
Upon intake, a behavior plan has been set up. Staff will address issues verbally, warnings and possible consequences will be given, a respite room or the hallway can be used, physical restraint is a last resort & or used if a child is physically out of control. Each child’s behavior is tracked on their daily point sheet. The child decides 2 goals that they personally want to work on. Level drop criteria are listed on the bottom of each point sheet.
Gym is on Monday’s and Friday’s at 12:15 – 1:15 , no gym teacher so staff is responsible to plan & run the activity.Art and any other extra curricular activity is between the teacher and the ABS (adaptive behavior specialist). Group all afternoon run & billed by the ABS. On Thursday’s from 1:00 – 2:00, group will run and billed by a T.C. Any questions ask the ABS assigned to the room.
