2. ARTICLE THESIS
In the 1920s, the established social order
in which women were expected to be the
guardians of morality was challenged as
the younger generation introduced more
sensuous attire and dance, accepted taboo
practices, and allowed for sexual
empowerment across gender lines; this
revolution was resisted by the older,
conservative generation who campaigned
for moral reform, through both politics and
the church.

3. SECTION THESIS
In the 1920s, people began having sexual
experiences at a younger age, divorce became
more common and more accepted, premarital
sexual experiences were more common for
girls, and even adults were having more sex.
The older generation resisted this challenge to
existing social codes and the movement
towards greater freedom and equality in the
sexual experience by campaigning for reform.
