JJ Stranan Explain how we came to meet – JJ sitting in the front row, full of enthusiasm, full of questions, already had a website 1. The idea for your business where did it come from n 2. So right from the start did you know you wanted to make it an online store – how did the process of creating an online store go for you 3. What did you learn/what would you do differently 4. And as you well know once the website is done that ’s when the real work starts, you have to market a lot if you want to get the sales happening - what marketing activities do you start with and what sort of spend were you playing with? What worked/what didn’t? 5. When you discovered Facebook some big lightbulbs started going off didn ’t they – tell us more about that – quest to get likes first, did advertising, got 4000 in 6 months 6. Started PPC advertising – we showed it in our promotions ‘ 7. New one 3200 likers in 5 or 6 weeks 8. What are your plans for the future with the business and marketing?
Josh Rimmington Explain how we came to meet – approached us about business awards – we had some good success with that didn ’t we Josh! 1. So you started this business with another guy – a mate of yours right? How did the idea come about? 2. Did you have any background in this field? 3. So your first target was to hit $10,000 in monthly sales and you achieved this in our first week of business! What is an average shed worth? The company turned over $1m in the first six months of operations, and a whopping $2m in first year of operations. Did this catch you buy surprise and how did you keep up with this level of growth? 4. So last I caught you the customer base was expanding an average of 20% per month, and month after month we continue to exceed all expectations, with sales increasing from $50,000 per month to over $400,000 turnover per month and growing! What sort of marketing were you doing to achieve these results? 5. And you had some innovations such as livechat – did this pay off? Guarantees – do they work well? 6. Did the downturn hurt you any? 7. Last I left off you were expanding into .co.nz and other areas – water tanks. Did that pay off? 8. What are your plans for the future with the business and marketing?
Peter Blausina 1. So Peter were you always into ‘gadgets’ and how did you get into them? 2. What point of sale tools are you aware of that might be useful for businesses say wanting to ‘sell’ with a credit card at an expo or at the markets? Do we really still have to lug around an eftpos machine or are we out of the dark ages? 3. What about gadgets we might use as consumers to compare stuff before we buy – any good phone apps? 4. What about gadgets we might use to buy stuff – do you know of trends of purchases on ebay? Paypal/phones? 5. Now Jag made me aware of https://squareup.com/ - have you played with this? 6. What about lightSpeed is the next generation Point of Sale system that combines Mac innovation with powerful business logic to offer comprehensive and easy to use tools for retail stores. 7. A lot of the accounts systems have been moving towards ‘cloud’ – MYOB, Quickbooks, and some of these have point of sale integrations too – do you know much about these? 8. What future trends do you predict we ’ll see in the world of online retail and ecommerce
