LOW INCOME FOR LOCAL FARMERS AND COMMUNITIES Many households that rely on agriculture-related occupations are often income poor; “in 2009, poverty incidence among households headed by farmers, forestry workers and fishermen is 46.2 percent.” Low farm gate price, limited farmer capital, high cost of production due to high cost of raw materials and medication UNSUSTAINIBILITY OF EXISTING LIVELIHOOD PROGRAMS Existing livelihood programs are not sustainable because they rely on revenues from products that have limited potential for repeat purchase COMMODIFICATION AND ATTRITIONING OF THE HOMEGROWN CATEGORY Accessibility and prevalence of less expensive import alternatives such as: Increased volume of imported processed eggs due to smuggling and the Minimum Access Volume (MAV). Turkish flour is commonly used by community bakers for products sold in provinces due to their lower price Imported meat products were cheaper than those being locally produced during the initial months of every year
