  4. 4. Design thinking A philosophy, process and mindset that drives attitude, the way we work and the decisions we make. It can ultimately underpin how a business operates.
  5. 5. The design sprint The sprint is a five-day process for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers.
  6. 6. 1. They are formative in nature, so help the team learn how design the right product, rather than providing the final design itself. Have an idea of output expectation. 2. There are four essential roles: facilitator, designer, maker and subject-matter expert 3. Define a clear challenge or goal for your sprint and gather insight needed 4. Pick a space and gather supplies 5. Have fun. Playfulness and humour are empirically linked to creativity and innovation. Here are a few golden rules:

  9. 9. 1 Plan and prep
  10. 10. Plan your sprint activities – 10 Mins 1) What is the design challenge? 2) Research, What information do you need before you can start a sprint? 3) People, who do you need in a sprint? 4) Map out your sprint structure timeline.

  13. 13. Stage 1: Understand - 5 Mins Unpack your research to the group. As this is being done each participant should write down ‘how might we’ questions to record all the challenges and problems we are hearing. Theme the HMW’s and dote vote Build empathy for your customer
  14. 14. Stage 2: Diverge - 15 Mins 1. Create a mind map 2. Crazy 8 3. T – bar 4. Dote vote and pick 2 Generate lots of idea
  15. 15. Stage 3: Converge - 15 Mins 1. Create 3 post-it story board for each idea 2. Rose, bud, thorn, review Refine the ideas
  16. 16. Stage 4: Prototype - 10 Mins 1. Sketch out the full experience in a storyboard 2. Highlight tricky areas to test Storyboard the idea
  17. 17. Stage 5: Test - 5 Mins 1. Present your idea to a group and gather feedback 2. Identify any areas for improvement. Gain feedback on your ideas
