5. I feel that the combination of my main product and ancillary texts is
very effective as when editing these I wanted them to all be very
similar I felt that if they were very different then audiences would
loose interest in them and not really bother looking at them, when
making the digipak and magazine advert I wanted to include the
character within my music video rather than the actual band who
produced the music I wanted to do this because I felt everything
should be the same and as I didn't use any performance footage
within the video to show the actual band then they shouldn't be in
the ancillary texts either.
6. As the outcome of the music video we created was quite dark eerie I felt
that the ancillary texts should be too, to make the digipak and magazine
advert I had to take lots of different photos which could be used to make
them when taking the photos I decided to do them in different effects for
example there are two photos of the character with the teddy bear in
sepia, which shows the character before the craziness happens however I
also took one photo of the character from the end of the music video
where everything is very dark looking. I decided to put these pictures of
the digipak as when the audience look at it and see the two different sides
of the character they will be very intrigued into what the story behind this
is. I chose to use just one of the close up sepia shots for the magazine
advert to promote the character in my music video by using the sepia
effect on the picture it made all of the information that is needed stand
out really effectively.
7. Also another way that my ancillary texts and music video make an effective
combination is through the text/font that is used on them all, I decided to use
a very big bold text which would catch the audiences eye straight away to
promote the name of the band and the song that we have used, (LEMAITRE) I
chose to do the bands name in white as when the white is on the sepia
coloured pictures it really stands out to the audience as if it was in a darker
colour it would have just blended in with the picture. for the name of the song
'blue shift' I decided that it would only be right to do it in a blue colour which
would link it directly to the song however I did choose to use a light blue again
so it would stand out as I did not want it to just blend in with everything else.
By using all of the same things on all of the products I felt that was very
effective because when the audience look at them all they will realise that
they are all different products but all from the same producer and distributer.
Also when all 3 of the products are put together it really promotes the song
further and gets the audience to want to buy it as if they looked at the digipak
and then later on watched the music video the would associate the two
straight away and if they enjoyed it they would know they could go and buy it.
