1’s: Sprint and get as deep as the football down the sideline. No one gets outside of you. Attack the
football outside in.

2’s: Sprint right to the football and make the tackle. You will not get blocked. Fight your way downfield to
the football. Attack the football outside in.

3’s: Sprint under control down the field keeping the football in a 10-yard relationship to your inside
shoulder. Fight your way to the football. Attack the football outside in.

4’s: Sprint under control down the field keeping the football in a 5-yard relationship to your inside
shoulder. Fight your way to the football. Attack the football outside in.

R5: On the side of the kicking leg of the kicker. Sprint right to the football and make the tackle. You will not
allow yourself to be blocked. Fight your way down the field and run through any blocks. Attack the
football inside out.

L5: On the opposite side of the kicking leg of the kicker. Sprints under control to the football. You are head
up on the ball. Fight your way to the ball down the field and run through any blocks. Attack the football
inside-out.

K: Kick the football correctly to the zone called. Call out the new zone if you kick the football to a different
zone. You are the safety at the opposite 45 yard line or 15 yards down field. Follow the football. Fight
through any blocks.

Middle Cross Return

Tackles
Block coverage player 5 on the opposite side.
Right tackle: drops and crosses 7 to 20 yards. Run stealth technique.
Left tackle: drops and crosses 5 to 18 yards. Run stealth technique.
Guards
Block coverage player 4 on the opposite side.
Right guard: drops and crosses 8 to 16 yards. Run stealth technique.
Left guard: drops and crosses 6 to 14 yards. Run stealth technique.
Center
Favors kicker’s leg side and blocks the safety. (Usually the kicker.)
Drops 4 to 10 yards. Run stealth technique.
Ends
Block coverage player 3 on the opposite side.
Right End: drops and crosses 12 to 25 yards. Run stealth technique.
Left End: drops and crosses 10 to 23 yards. Run stealth technique.
If football is kicked or squib to you or in front of you, you are to field the football and run the return called.
If you hear an “I got it” call by the returner or deep returner, let the ball go and form the wedge and run the return called.
* Wedge Captain
Forms and sets the wedge 7 to 10 yards in front of the football.
Once the wedge is formed and you see the returner catch the football, yell “go” to start the wedge up field.
Sprint up field together.
Execute a run through block or block forcer coming off the edge.
* Up back
Find the wedge captain 7 to 10 yards in front of the football when dropping and set up next to him.
Once the wedge is formed and the “go” call is given.
Sprint up field together.
Execute a run through block or block forcer coming off the edge.

Listen for “you” or “me” call from the Deep Returner.
Make a “go” call to help start the wedge upfield.
Catch the football on the fly and run behind the wedge upfield.
Look for a running seam or daylight.
If you do not field the football, join the outside edge of the wedge.
Execute a run through block or block forcer coming off the edge.
*Returner
Make ball call “I got it” to the front people.
Make a “you” or “me” call to the Returner.
Make a “go” call to help start the wedge upfield.
Catch the football on the fly and run behind the wedge upfield.
Look for a running seam or daylight.
