CNA Training: What to Expect
1. CNA Training: What to Expect
Some people strive to and enjoy helping others. There are many out there, the sick, injured,
dying and elderly who need care from very special people. It takes a lot of heart,
determination and skill to carry out the day to day tasks these people require but many can
do it and thoroughly enjoy it. Due to the increasing demand for nursing assistants there is a
large availability to study on line to become a CNA. This extremely rewarding career will see
you work under the direction of registered nurses in a number of roles with the potential to
further your studies and become an RN or LPN yourself.
CNA training.
Once you enrol to participate in CNA training you can expect to learn some very
interesting things. Subjects such as biology, chemistry, nutrition, physiology, anatomy,
infection control, basic nursing skills and safety will all be covered in your course. This
training can be done through a number of ways via teleconferencing, video and forums. A
great advantage of studying online is that students who lead a busy lifestyle or who don’t
have the ability to travel constantly for study can still participate in this course. Of course
there is the need to carry out practical training as you study to be a CNA so that a particular
amount of clinical experience is achieved and so at some stage students will be required to
travel to a venue.
Completing CNA training.
Once you have completed your training you need to attain your CNA certification. This is
done by sitting a test that may vary from state to state. It is comprised of written, oral and
practical skills testing. The practical portion of the exam is when students are placed into
random situations where they must carry out clinical tasks with a live ‘patient’. Whilst at this
time it can be easy for a student to feel nervous it is always best to stay calm. The people
observing and marking your performance are not there to fail students and are looking for
someone who can behave in a calm and rational manner under pressure. Once CNA
certification is achieved you can expect to find employment in places such as hospitals and
nursing homes. Some of your duties will include but not be limited to delivery of meals,
dispensing medications and changing dressings.
Set your foot on the path of your new rewarding career today. With so many people in need
of a kind and helping hand there is no reason to wait any longer.
